This restaurant was just what we were hoping to find. The food was stunning and very reasonably priced and the staff were lovely. The best duck I have ever had. We will return as soon as we come back to Paris

Lovely restaurant, good food and atmosphere and friendly service. Very cosy. Reasonably priced. A little slice of old Montmartre. Would recommend.

Very disappointing service. We were looking forward to hearing the pianist however there was no music at all! Not even recorded music. We were also sat at a table with another couple which felt very cramped. The food was fine but we waited for 30 minutes for our dessert. We won't be back

Old-world charm exudes at this gem of a restaurant. The food is excellent and a really good value. Following our dinner which included escargot, herring, lamb, and fish, we thoroughly enjoyed the absinth experience.

Wonderfully warm and comfortable neighborhood bistro in Montmarte. We avoided a huge rainstorm, taking shelter inside and were treated to a wonderful meal with gracious service (which we don't always receive in Paris as our French language skills are in need of refinement). My only knock was that the Duck Confit was a bit overcooked, while my daughter's salmon was perfect. There was live music and more smiles from the host and servers than we are used to receiving in Paris. We will definitely eat here again when we return to the area.

What we enjoyed the most of Le Bon Bock was the atmospheare. The place had historical funshings and a piano player, which we liked very much. The quality of the food was ok and service a bit imprecise. We asked to pay with the fork pay, but they refused, which we found a bit odd.

The ambiance was classic and, given its stature as the oldest restaurant in Montmartre, left one wondering what amazing minds of the past had dined their. That is where the magic stopped. The food and service left much to be desired. We had a reservation and were on time. After politely waiting in the threshold, seen but ignored, I ventured inside and got us seated. The staff offered no information and were not helpful in making selections. They were haughty. The food was lazily prepared and, to be frank, would be lapped on any given day by the offerings of many a banal chain restaurant. My salmon tartare was more filler than salmon. The lettuce of the accompanying salad was wilted. The duck confit was nothing special and my green beans were sadly over cooked. Another in the party has overcooked chicken swimming in a pool of Camembert sauce. If they clean up their act and offer service and excellent cuisine, both of which abound in the immediate area, they would have something special.

I would describe the food country style home cooking. It was ok, but do not expect Masterchef style. We had much better experiences in other restaurants. The food and atmosphere didn't meet our expectations. The service was not very friendly.

About the restaurant

"Located at the corner of boulevard Rochechouart, at the foot of Sacré Cœur, le Bon Bock is a place full of history, it is even said to be the oldest restaurant of Montmartre. You will find the Parisian bistro of the novels of the 19th century: the soft lights, the wooden furniture, the antique chandeliers.

In the kitchen, traditional French cuisine will be prepared for you. The dishes are simple and sumptuous, and you recall the flavors of a past era. We recommend especially granny's onion soup au gratin, a real treat!

a location to discover absolutely, be it for a drink, to share a brunch with friends or for an intimate dinner. The restaurant regularly offers entertainment such as theme nights or concerts."
