A quirky little restaurant away from the usual touristy areas. Delicious food at a reasonable price, with plenty of choice, and very friendly staff.
Excellent et service au top !! Je recommande !
This is the best in Lyon, THE BEST , and I mean it. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic! The staff there were extremely friendly. If you have a chance to visit Lyon, COME!
Small restaurant with loft where majority of dinning tables are with one table on bottom floor. Service was impeccable and dishes were great. We had the appetizer-entre-dessert option paired with 6 wines and loved everything about it.
For our last night in Lyon, we couldn’t have made a better decision than Le Book-Lard. We tried multiple traditional Lyonnaise dishes and each one was incredible. The service was outstanding and the server took the time to explain what each item was to help us make the best decision. I highly recommend!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They even contact us back by phone cause we forget a scarf. The food was amazing. Fresh and great taste at a good price. Definitely worth to visit.
This unassuming restaurant was a terrific find. The casual atmosphere belies the delicious fresh and imaginative food as well as the warmth and hospitality of the owner and his crew. The menu is limited but everything was appealing both in presentation and flavor. For a lighter more causal meal I would highly recommend Le Book-Lard and may even return myself before I leave the region.
A value and high quality dinner. It showcasts the best bistro experience in Lyon. Portion is big and ingredients are fresh. The only downside is our table and sitting area are a bit tiny
friendly and really great food
All were very delicious. Eating knell, fish and sausage, it was a good memory to come to Lyon. The customer service was also good. I want to come again.
We had dinner at Le Book Lard as a family of four walking to the restaurant from the centre of the city. This is a restaurant with a great deal of atmosphere created to reflect a warm and interesting environment. The staff were friendly and patient delivering a very efficient service. the menu is small but covers most people with our four enjoying duck, and fish for our mains that were all prepared to perfection. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and well worth the short walk from town.
Excellente adresse !
Womderful dinner, very nice staff
Really good meal with great service
So glad we discovered this creative, more modern choices. The tuna tataki was the best I ever had. And the service was really friendly, too. We will definitely come back soon!
Nice place out of the city center
Fantastic service with a smile, and the food is just unbelievable!
Very nice place. Great VFM. Go with the cheff recomendation.
Faultless dining experience. Everything we ate was excellent. Thank you!
Good restaurant. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere.
Loved the ambiance and the service was very good. They could not do enough to accommodate me with my handicap. Food was well prepared and presented served with good wine. Would recommend to anyone who is within the Lyon area. Many thanks guys for a great evening.
Excellent. Tuna tartar was delicious.
Great food, friendly staff, nice location, fair prices
Very charming small neighborhood restaurant. The service was excellent. However, I’m not sure why others are posting the food was superb. It was very plain, not much sauce. Appetizers were very good. Entrees were ok. Desserts were dry. Price is very reasonable.
Fabulous food in very pleasant surroundings. Outstanding menu with excellent service & hospitality. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Will return whenever in Lyon and will recommend to everyone.
The restaurant is not usually open on a weekend however we noticed the ability to book for a Saturday evening on The Fork so had a very prompt email conversation with the restaurant to confirm resulting in us booking. We were given a warm welcome & the waiter indulged our attempts to communicate in French. As with most French bistros the menu is relatively short & there is a menu du jour option. The starters were the star of the show - the tuna tataki in particular was to die for, but the duck foie gras & ginger bread wasn’t bad either. For mains the tuna tartare was somewhat disappointing after having tasted the tataki & the veal blanquette lacked seasoning. We had slices of chocolate and apple cake for dessert which were good but not stand out. The food arrived promptly and the service was pitched at the right level. We thought it might be quiet - we were the first diners & it is a little off the beaten track - however it soon filled up. Noise level gave the place a nice buzz, only spoilt by one loud diner.
Excellent food and friendly service!
We had a very nice evening at Le Book-Lard! The staff treated us very well, were very accepting of our poor attempts to speak French and spoke very good English. The meal was delightful and a very good value. We would highly recommend.
Fabulous in every way. Warm welcome on arrival, cute corner table upstairs, great atmosphere. Music was lovely. The service was perfect, friendly and just the right amount of interaction, attentive without being overly so. The food was spectacular. Basically, there aren’t enough superlatives. Generous portions, good amount of choice. We left full and happy. Will definitely be coming back again when we visit Lyon and letting family know it’s more than a safe bet ???? - now a firm favourite. Thank you to the staff!
Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! Should I really tell more?! :) Don’t miss it.
Hidden gem, located streets away from the main district. Had the menu with appetizer, main course and dessert. I recommend to try the Panna cotta chevre and the andouillette veau, something that is rarely available in restaurants. The foods are really good and would be back for my next visit.
Excellent restaurant in a casual setting with friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend.
This time....in English....because I feel a visceral 'NEED' to express my admiration...gratitude...and amazement at finding 'OUR' favorite restaurant in Lyon...and it now 'TOPS' my personal list of favourite dining spots in Lyon...and the France that I know.... These people KNOW lovingly sought-out, prepared and presented plates ...the origins of their particular taste-profiles and palates...without ANY pretension...I feel...every time...as if my most beloved relative gave their exquisite 'ALL' ...in a culinary sense...to 'IMPRESS ME'... not in a 'I want to get something from this' fashion...but because these people simply LOVE good, un-pretentious cuisine made with a creative...but with 'love-from-the-gut' savoir-faire. I will return...with conviction...every time...with another relative...another friend...because I KNOW...that these people...these 'chefs de cuisine purs'...are the 'real deal'...Warmth...savoire-faire...traditionalisme with an eye wide open to culinary new-ness and ingenuity..C'est ICI!!
A cozy joint that is a labor of love. The staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about good food.
