One of the worst dining experiences of 50 years of eating in France. The "george" referenced George Blanc. We have eaten at George Blanc and there is no connection. We arrived at 8 pm for our reservation, were seated and eventually presented with the menu. We ordered a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. After that we saw the menu with two choices on the prix fixe two course meal. First, salad or mackerel, second beef or pasta with lobster sauce and prawns. The mackerel turned out to be unavailable, would we accept the smoked salmon? Okay. That was a few small pieces of salmon. Waiter said he would bring bread. Next, it turns out that the pasta was not available, would we accept gnocchi with cod, the only other option. Okay. Meanwhile, we have to flag down a server to get the bread. Then I notice that a client who arrived after us was eating pasta with prawns. The gnocchi with a big chunk of unadorned cod was pretty bad. Why were we treated so poorly? We were not happy dinners.
Excellent lyonnaise cuisine and warm service.
Nice dishes. Very good meat. High level desserts
The service was poor and slow with mistakes made over the orders. The food quality was average and not proportionate to the price. A pity since it could have been a much better experience. One has the impression that Georges has “taken his eye off the ball.”
The chicken dish was uneatable, tough and stringy, but the salad was good. The menu of the day of fish was very good. They didn't want to believe ususa but the chicken, kitchen wouldn't relent. Waiter eventually brought a glass of cheap moscato as recompence. Service was spotty, no clean flatware for courses. No fish fork or knives, I had a large steak knife as the only flatware and a fork for the delecatexwhite fish.
Food was sent back - it was visibly unedible, and the server was dismissive and demanded we pay for the food. Unacceptable.
For me it was not in the spirit of Georges Leblanc, food is very simple without special touch
Dessert particulierement decevant
We liked the atmosphere. Excellent decor and comfortable ambiance. Service was excellent as the entire wait staff worked as a team and therefore we could ask for more water, wine or whatever was needed. Staff was extremely attentive throughout the entire visit. The wine suggestions were stellar and many wines usually availble by bottle only could be enjoyed by the glass. This allowed us to try several wines. This was a great meal and a great choice on a Monday when most restaurants are closed.
Vraiment à tester ...... top classe
food rather disappointing, sauce béarnaise was cold, mousse au chocolat was too dense, this maybe was because of the dark chocolate. you would expect much more from a restaurant which bears the name of George Blanc. Wines by the glass are of excellent quality, so was the quality of the ingredients. ambiente in the restaurant was nice. all in all not a place where we would return.
Acceptable, nothing fancy......
Great place for quality meats (Wagyu, black angus, and very soft tenderloins). Good menu options for non meat eaters. Nice clean and modern atmosphere. A good choice for lunch or dinner in Lyon..
Service excellent. Food good but certainly not sensational.
We've eaten here many times in the past 3 years and last night was not our usual good experience at Le Centre. Usually we have excellent service and meals. But last night the tuna ceviche was not "fresh" and not served in an appetizing manner. The tuna was in big chunks in a "pink" soup in a plain white bowl. It looked like it had been frozen and defrosted in the microwave. There was no creativity in ingredients or presentation. We all had different types of beef and it was excellent for everyone though it was not cooked as ordered. We ask for rare and medium rare and it was medium to well done for half of our table of six people. Our server was friendly but didn't get any of our orders totally correct. She served the wrong boeuf to each of us, didn't bring correct servings for dessert (we ordered chocolate mousse for 3 and she only brought (2) spoons and plates) and she also disappeared for long periods at a time so we couldn't get her attention to ask for an additional plate/spoon.
Excellent experience. Friendly staff and wonderul tastes. Very good wine choices. Overall 5 star rating.
Cadre sympa et sommelier tres professionnel. Par contre un rapport qualite prix des plats pas tres satisfaisant.
Nice place, good cuisine and very professional sommelier
We all had some type boeuf - Japanese wagyu, beef tenderloin and a burger and the quality was excellent and very flavorful. The chocolate cake dessert was average and not sure it was homemade on site. Overall a great place if looking for quality boeuf menu options.
Friendly staff, very good food and very attentive sommelier.
