Sadly - it just wasn’t that good. If this wasn’t Michelin starred I would have rated it higher - but it is. The food was not up to par and the prices were ridiculous. $16 for a local gin and tonic? Obscene. The staff was great - attentive and well trained. The food was ranged from bleh to I can’t eat that, which I didn’t for one of the courses. I expected far more and think far more should have been given. It was not worth the cost or a star. There are far better restaurants in Amboise that are half the expense but with twice the food quality.

We had a lovely window seat for our dinner. We chose the 5 course tasting menu and it was exquisite! All the dishes were light, elegant and tasty. What a wonderful gastronomic experience!

Dining at Chateau du Pray is a special experience. Our lobster main course and all other courses were delicious. The service was precisely orchestrated by a full team of servers.

Our dinner was fantastic: meal, service, and location all excellent. Each piece was inventive and beautiful, as well as delicious. Watching the sun set from the terrace was an added bonus.

Excellent staff who provided an astoundingly astute, quick and informative service they really made the entire experience and I couldn't speak more highly of them. In terms of the food I'm less enthusiastic; there is wonderful interplay between all the classic elements of salt, fat, acidity, crunchy and soft. However it all just kind of fell flat, it's difficult to put into words but when consider a Michelin star one is hoping for at least very good where here it felt mediocre at best, the technique was on point as where all the technicals but it felt lacking in heart or passion. The Blue Lobster was tough, more akin to shrimp than lobster, and the razor Clams while having a variety of texture had been pureed into a kind of seafood custard which was difficult to choke down at times. The cheese course was fine but by this point I was tired and eager to move on. Overall the experience was OK, but if you have high hopes I would look elsewhere.

a nice restaurant - great food, good wine, nice atmosphere. service was excellent at the start, but started to slow down a bit at the main course - maybe too many people arrived at 20.00.

Food was ok … definitely not worth the price. Atmosphere was a bit stilted and stuffy …. like a library. Lunch food options were limited

I expected more from the 115 euro per person menu. It was uneven--some great dishes but two were subpar. Fish was overpowered by vanilla. and cheese parfait was frozen solid and inedible. Service was spotty and it seemed that the wait staff forgot us for 45 minutes at a time. No one checked on us after delivering each course, so we could not tell them about the problems. We told the waiter at the end of the meal (almost 4 hours after our dinner started)and the chateau staff when we checked out the next day that we were disappointed and both were unapologetic.

What a great experience all the way around. Beautiful and classy setting inside Chateau de Pray, a few km outside of Amboise. We had the five course meal which came with several little surprises from the chef throughout the night. Our waiters were helpful , kind and patient even with some language barriers. The sommelier was terrific and guided us towards two nice half bottles of wine that would work throughout our meal. Truly a memorable evening that allowed us to linger and enjoy the moment.

Excellent meal in a lovely setting. After dinner sweets arrived with a surprise discrete birthday candle which was a nice gesture. We were initially told on arrival that we could only have a la carte or 3 course menu, as final orders for the 5 course menu were at 21h while we arrived at 21h15. After insisting with the waiter to check again with the chef we were able to order. No problem if this is the case but it should have been specified when I reserved, especially since I received a confirmation call the day before and I confirmed 9pm booking, while 15 min delay in arrival is surely acceptable! All in all a very pleasurable evening.

Food is good, however this restaurant did not honor the fourchette offer. Hospitality was not up to par for a Michelin star restaurant. Could use improvement, value for price not great.
