Nice and not expensive place in the centet of Bayeux.
Slightly old-fashioned setting and pretentious food. Several different foams including foie gras! Service very good, friendly and humourous. Unexpected appetizers very welcome. Small portions . Slightly expensive for what it was. Strange mistake in serving incorrect beers as the bar had connected the wrong pipes to the pumps. Should have been obvious in the colour of the beer.
We tried another restaurant that I had tried years before but no table. We decided to try this restaurant and we were so happy that we did as the dining was fantastic! First, the service was impeccable from the suggestions for our meal to the perfect match of the wine. We enjoyed a two and a half hour dining experience that was the best ever. Everything was prepared perfectly - I had the Saint Pierre Fish as my friend had the Turbot. Presentation was beautiful and the meal was delicious. The flavors blended so well. The fois gras was outstanding along with the hazelnut crumble. Unique pairing and so delicious. The entire evening was pleasurable and the staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I would highly recommend!
Although I often hear Americans say the French can be rude, I have visited France more than a dozen times, and have never felt it to be true. That is, until visiting this restaurant. The server was dismissive, short and plain rude. I don’t know if it’s because we are American with elementary French speaking skills, or if he was just this way by nature. Regardless, it made for an unpleasant experience. The food we had was quite good, so it’s a shame his behavior peppered the evening.
Food was great. Service just okay.
The waiter was not helpful at all. You get used to the rudeness after a while, after all we are Americans. The entree was good but the portions were small and it was overpriced. I have no trouble paying for a great meal but the whole experience was rather disappointing. We won’t be back.
The waiting time after placing the order exceeded an hour!
We arrived at 5 minutes to 7pm for a 7 o’clock reservation and were asked to go to the bar for a drink. 45 minutes later we were still left there waiting. Once we got into the half full restaurant we again had to wait before placing our order. We didn’t get any food until well after 8.30. The food was excellent but we did not feel welcome or carefully attended to by the restaurant staff. We shall not return and neither will we recommend the restaurant.
Very good food and competent guidance as regards wine.
A very nice dining room with a good atmosphere and the staff were very good.
Atmospheric and reasonably updated old hotel. So much history, especially from WWII on! We were a tad upset to walk in at 7:30 PM and see 40+ people already there, most from one or more American tour groups. The patrons were in good spirits, and the staff were doing their best to keep everything moving along. All of our dishes were very artistic and most, but not all worked. An amuse d'bouche and one of our starters were just plain flat/blsnd. fortunately, everything else was spot on. An extensive, rather pricey wine list. Someone has to keep the hotel solvent.
nous etions tres contents de la qualite et du service.
Food was of a good standard and well presented. However it's quality was not considerably better than others in the area. The service was average at best, taking considerable time for the simplist of tasks, which was disappointing given the low number of diners in the restaurant. The hotel looks wonderful and is a nice setting. The private room however has no character at all. Taking some character from the bar and recreating it within the private room would be a considerable improvement.
Decent food (nothing amazing) but our experience was totally ruined by the LONG waiting time. we booked at 8pm and the "amuse bouche" arrived at 8h55pm!!! the starter around 9h15pm! it was already close to 11pm when we left. The place was not at all full but there only 2 waiters (one of them "apprentice") who were doing their best, but they could not managed to serve all tables in an efficient way.
I will not recommend this restaurant to my US and English veterans and friends (extremely noisy, food without research and originality, expensive for what is produced. To avoid. Tres decevant:tres bruyant (groupe de 42 personnes), nourriture banale sans originalite, tres cher pour ce qui est servi - a eviter
