The service was attentive and friendly whilst remaining discreet. The food was excellent and well presented with a twist on the classic making it deliciously modern yet remaining classic enough for the traditionalists. With the castle as a backdrop to our dining it setting was perfect. I can't think of any one thing that marred the experience. Everything was just perfect. If you are a foodie you should eat here. Compliments to the chef and all who work here.
Despite the sad looking entrance, once you're through the door Phoebus is really cosy and the views across the river to the Chateau are gorgeous, espcially lit up at night. The first thing that struck me was how beautifully laid the tables were. The dinner plates are all hand painted by art students from the local high school and are absolutely gorgeous! My only complaint is the cutlery, forks in particular - ergonomic design looks great but they are actually really awkward to hold and very heavy! The menu is pretty varied and the food really delicious and superbly presented. Portion sizes were spot on. Expensive however.
The waiter was awful & pretentious. The night before my reservation, he refuse me a table as say " fully booked " but clearly I could see many tables was empty. Not like they were expecting many more covers as it was nearly 9pm. I was over charge by €10 on my starter only to realise after I left, so I went back the next day to claim it back. He was not interested & looked bored In all the food was good but not worth the price. A dying dying breed of establishment who don't refresh them-self to the changing market.
Bon mais sans originalite
I have never been disappointed by any meal I have enjoyed at le Phoebus over the years. Any one to whom I have recommended the restaurant has thanked me after dining there. The views are the best in town, the service always genuinely attentive and excellent. And the food is inventive, beautifully prepared and presented. What more could one ask?
Super restaurant !
Food was excellent, very tasty. And plenty of it. Was overwhelmed with the view and the wine selection was massive. I would recommend to anyone. Thanks Adam and Claire
Better than expected from other reviews, and much better than we feared. Our best meal in Foix!
