About the restaurant Le Pot de Vins

"FRESHNESS CELLAR - halfway between a nice cellar and a gourmet bistro, Le Pot de Vins is a small corner of happiness to share on the side of the Palais Royal. Traditional small dishes prepared with love and simplicity can be devoured here, while drinking between buddies around a wonderful glass of wine. Your future HQ in the 1st arrondissement?

SLATE OF THE DAY - to delight your sensitive and hungry taste buds, the chef Stéphane Gatumel (formerly at the restaurant Le Tsé) composes market cuisine prepared exclusively with fresh products: marinade of mackerel or black pig terrine with apricots-figs, black squid ink risotto and white chocolate-pistachio mousse.

IT IS LIKED - wines to take home and the deli, the possibility to organize a private event."

This restaurant is away from the bustle of the crowded streets nearby, so if you are looking for a Parisian people-watching experience it will be a disappointment. Here, the star is the food. The gnocchi and risotto were amazing.

Lovely setting not far from the Louvre. The food was quite good but the service was exceptional. I and my family tried to speak in French when we could, but often things like menus are beyond our abilities. The waiter was very accommodating, reading and translating the menu to us and offering good suggestions. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly, and attentive to our needs

One caveat: The Fork places this restaurant in the least expensive category (<€25), but it probably belongs in the next category up (though not by much).

One of our most enjoyable dinners during our visit. We chose the restaurant because of its proximity to the Louvre. The restaurant is slightly off the beaten path, across from the bank, a block north of all the cafes in the area. Charming, rustic wood and stone interior, with partially open kitchen. The staff were warm, personable, and engaging. They translated the entire chalk-board menu, helped us with our selections and made excellent wine recommendations. We each had an entree and main course, and shared a dessert. Everything was outstanding. The staff topped off the evening by recommending the best metro route for us to return to our apartment. Memorable night.

Fantastic! We reserved with tripadvisor and were able to get 30% which is fantastic. Price is on the higher side, spending about 45 euros per person (each of us getting a entree, plate, and a glass of wine). One of the best meals I've had! The entrees were amazing! They were so nice to us, great wine recommendations, and very accommodating despite us not speaking french. Since we were the first ones to arrive (it opens at 7 and we went at 7), the waitress took her time and translated the menu to us, which is amazing. They change the menu everyday, so do not have an english menu, which is understandable. If you don't speak french, and want to eat here, I recommend going at an earlier time when it is not busy, so they have time to help you out. Wonderful experience, highly recommend!

The whole experience was just perfect - a typical (in looks) Neighborhood French Bistro, the service, energy, and food was fabulous. My whole group of francophone and francophile friends will be back!
