About the restaurant Le Sillon

De par sa situation, La Brasserie du Sillon offre une vue imprenable sur l’horizon maritime, un spectacle paisible et impétueux à la fois. En hiver, installez-vous au chaud dans un décor aux alliances de bois et de briques. Les lustres originaux créent une ambiance feutrée dans laquelle on se sent tout simplement bien.

A table, les produits de la mer sont à l’honneur : retrouvez des poissons et fruits de mer, en provenance directe du port, travaillés avec simplicité et talent. Si vous êtes plutôt tentés par une pièce de viande, goûtez le filet de boeuf moutardier et sa sauce au poivre. We visit this restaurant every time we travel to St. Malo . The plateau de fruits de mer was excellent and the service very good. Special commendation to Sophie who looked after us very well.

Tables crammed together , intrusive conversation from people so close. Poor greeting, battling to get menus , waited 40 minutes to get wine , asked 3 times what had happened , no apologies. Left without dessert ,had a delightful time at a restaurant in the old town . Would not go back and clearly would advise not to be visited.

We had been before, and this second visit proved we were right the first time ! Food couldn't be faulted, we had the table by the window that we had requested, we were seated at once, but had to wait for the food (not unreasonably long, considering the level of skill involved in cooking to order) for about 20 mins. Had the "wine of the month"; a Bergerac blanc, which was good value. My husband chose one course from the a la carte, and my son and I had the E36 menu, which was small but beautifully formed ! The restaurant is always our first choice when travelling through St. Malo, and we'll return with pleasure.

I've been here many tims before and this was a disappointment. Poor service. I ordered the aperitif, 2 glasses of Rose Champagne, waited 20 minutes and was asked by the same waiter if I would like to order an aperitif.
Food - started with the 6 Oysters de Cancale, they were dried out and had been shucked several hours before. The main meal of Skate wing with capers and vegetables arrived warm, not hot.
Service very slow. The waiter was flustered and said he had worked in the UK in The Fat Duck at Bray many years ago.
He clearly learned little from his previous experience.
Price excessive for such a mediocre mea. We've had so much better from this restaurant in the past.

I was very much looking forward to visiting this restaurant after a recommendation from a fried. We arrived to a very unwelcoming receptionist who took us to our table which wasn't the one we had requested by email the day before - when I asked her if we could have a table by the window she shrugged her shoulders and said that was all she had ( despite showing the next couple to the window table) so we left.

Perfect dinner: crab with crunchy biscuits, barbue with celery purée and beurre blanc, then strawberry ice cream with gateau. Excellent wines and attention. I was a sole diner and was given a discreet table in the corner where I could observe the fellow diners, the promenade and the beach. So good!
