Very confusing as there are two restaurants hidden behind the name. Les Viviers( or Rolancy`s as it actually is) and the actual Bistrot. We had apparently booked for the restaurant, but wanted to go to the Bistrot. Once the confusion was sorted things started to unravell. We were forgotten about (ignored) for about 20 minutes. Then our order was taken. There only seemed to be one waitress. We asked for bottled water 4 times before receiving it. Our wine order was left on an adjacent table for 10 minutes( we didnt know it was ours until 10 minutes later). The white wine was not in a cooler, by the time we got to sample it , it was at room temperature.
The food was excellent and the ambience good. Pity about the service.

Best quality for food out of all the restaurants we have eaten at in Nice. Ate there twice, we have found other good restaurants but this has been the best, it is a more expensive choice but worth every penny.

Ordered their bulabaise. It had no flavor at all, some testeless pieces of boiled fish, one and only one shrimp and no shell fish. The price was almost 40 euros.

The fish was terrific and the reason we went. Unfortunately, the service was very slow and disconnected. The wait staff were overwhelmed on a Sat night and needed help which didn't appear. The locals seemed to do better than folks from far away....

Over the last decade, the dining scene in Nice has greatly improved. Viviers was one of the first to set the bar high and it is still a place of great quality, friendly and professional service and an establishment that satisfies both locals and visitors with their elegant rendition of culinary standards. You can be assured that anything from the sea is fresh and of premium grade. Last night, for a change, we had rack of lamb and it was superb. The little tables on the street are a pleasant alternative-especially when no one is smoking! The bistro has a nice selection of local wines and some good choices from farther afield.

We had a bit of trouble finding this restaurant due to construction in the area, but glad we persevered. We both enjoyed our meals (fish for him, duck for me) and found the service very agreeable. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

An excellent restaurant, which we always enjoy when visiting Nice. It was fairly quiet on a mid week evening so lacking a little in atmosphere but the food and service more than made up for this. I was also impressed that the bill when presented already took into account the 20% Fork discount and I did not have to ask for it. At a net 108 euros for two (each having 3 courses a la carte) I consider it to be great value for money.making the eventual price great value.

Typical French bistro. Bustling, atmospheric and fun. It was the sort of restaurant in which people talk to each other. So we gave a rudimentary English lesson to the lady dining alone on the next table and she gave us a French lesson. She also had a conversation with the people on the next table. Rarely happens in England!
I started with game terrine which was stuffed full of flavour and had Bouillabaisse for my main course. It was the petit version but I couldn't eat it all. In truth I have had better Bouillabaisse but the rouille was the best I've ever eaten. My companion had baked cod with persillade which she really enjoyed. She had a selection of home made sorbet - pear, lychee and coconut - for desert while I just had a espresso. We accompanied it with a bottle of Bellet, the local Nice wine, more expensive than wines from Provence, but worth it. We'd both return to Les Viviers..

This was our third visit and we have never been disappointet. Highly recommend the shellfish ravioli, to die for, and the salt-crust fish, succulent. The Paris-Brest is also an experience.

We loved the food and chef who delivered our first course. Greatly disappointed by head waitress' hostillity,and lack of warmth to ourselves and others seated at tables nearby.
Her attitude tainted our experience.
