About the restaurant Loiseau rive Gauche

For a Michellin star restaurant, I expected more in terms of the food. The service was so-so ... the waiters and sommelier seem not to be too versed in the food/wine they are offering.

Really excellent lunch, perfectly prepared. Somewhat restricted menu but everything was superb. The homemade fois gras was smooth and favorable. Really excellent. The al la carte duck was perfectly cooked. The cheese plate was spectacular. Eight different cheeses with each with an unique flavor. The Blue was soft as a brie unlike most blues. The cod was soft and moist. This restaurant is absolutely worth visiting.

the food is fabulous, the service outstanding and it comes at a cost. This is an expensive restaurant and well worth the price

Excellent food and service. Expensive but good value. We had 2 glasses of wine each, amuse bouche of duck pate, cheese puff, and olive tapenade; appetizers were puree of pumpkin soup with tiny croutons and creme fraiche; entrees (starter in France) were mushroom tarte and white fish marinated in beets; plats were a vegetable dish and mackerel with veggies; desserts were chocolate ice cream with blueberry-filled profiteroles and tiny wild strawberry shortcakes with pink mint sorbet; plus coffee and tea = € 137 with tip. Lovely quiet evening with attentive, polite service. Full English by all the servers with helpful hints and suggestions about the menu and various dishes. Definitely a place to return to; this was our second visit.

A pleasant quiet spot for lunch but at the price it lacked the excitement on my taste buds and finesses in the service. Twice a waiter dribbled whilst pouring with a frustrating arrogance of ignoring his errors. Not a keeper.

It was near our hotel so that was a plus. We made reservations, but I'm not sure if they comprehended it, but there was only one other couple in the place so it wasn't an issue. As the restaurant filled up, saw them serving (and even doting) on other tables. Didn't seem to have one waiter - had to ask for water twice. Parts of my meal were wonderful, other parts, just average. Dessert was spectacular. Very expensive. Not open on the weekends. Both French and English menus.

We ate the best first course (of a 5 course, special New Year's Eve prix fixe dinner) I have ever had--a scallop filled ravioli with jerusalem artichoke puree and some sort of delicious shellfish broth. The other food was very good, but not as breathtaking. The ambiance was nice and the service was excellent.
