Very nice and staff great
The food and the presentation was excellent. The grilled octopus was delicious and our friendly waiter, who also spoke some English, was a real professional and his suggestions were spot on.
Easy going, light and friendly restaurant. Clearly wants to hit the big hotel clientele I think. Was our last night and looked for restaurant without catching metro to centre. This was ok, I had octopus salad followed by hot shrimps with sweet potatoes chips. My partner had poached eggs with peas and sausage followed by steak and sweet potato chips. All were ok for the price but main problem was everything, yes every dish had loads of sweet potato. The shrimps weren’t in lovely hot sizzling garlicky oil but sweet potato soup, same for the eggs and sausage. The salad and steak also had rounds of sweet potato piles in them..... nice friendly staff.
The food is tasty, well prepared, innovative. Overall a bit pricey for the portions. The only negative I would like to mention is that all the staff is too young to understand that children are picky. Peas with boiled egg and chorizo is a Portuguese classic but they make it a very soft almost crude egg and knowing it was for a child they should have mentioned it. After having to order a stake and fries with white rice for the child that didn’t “loved” the crude egg, the white rice came with grated cheese on top and again no one mentioned it nor was it on the menu. We had to send it back to take the cheese off. So if you go with children be extra careful as they won’t, and if you are vegan beware that white rice has cheese on top! Go figure... all in all just too expensive for what it is.
Lovely little restaurant with superb food. The fried green beans and prawn curry were amazing. Will be back when next in Lisboa.
The staff were very nice and accommodating to our questions. The food was delicious, we got octopus with vegetables, steak and tuna taco. We loved everything we had.
We were warmly welcomed, the waiter suggested some dishes and explained a lot about Portuguese cuisine. They indeed have the best chocolate fondant in Lisbon.
Very tasty and you could see that it was prepared with love
The concept is great, and quality of the food is also great. Would suggest speeding up service and attentiveness to guest needs- e.x. suggesting another glass of wine when noticing empty glasses while serving the main dishes). The menu is not big and would benefit from a wider selection or rotating dishes.
Nice and the best restaurant❤️
Nice place, Food was good but wouldn't say excellent. Service was good but not excellent. Place is nice lot of space between the tables which is a big plus.
Bon restaurant sympathique
Rated highly that didn’t live up to expectation. Food was mediocre. Wouldn’t return nor suggest it to someone if they were visiting Lisbon. Ambience was also just okay.
The service and the food was more than we could have hoped for. This place is a real gem. Everyone should try it. There were plates to try which we had never sampled before and they were wonderful.what a great way to end our stay in Portugal.
Great find in Lisbon we were a party of 6 friends connecting the food and atmosphere were awesome totally impressed the service was excellent we will return the next time we are in Lisbon- thank you for making our experience one to remember! Gail :)
The best meal we’ve had in Spain and Portugal. We had the Rabbit Samosas and Garlic Fried Shrimp for starters. Both were in excellent, particularly the Rabbit which was amazing. Mains were the Hamburger and Grilled Octopus with Vegetables. Both were delicious. The wine list is excellent - the wines by the glass were exceptional. And finally the staff were friendly and professional. Loved our meal here
This is without a doubt one of the top 10 restaurants I've visited, the food was fantastic, the staff friendly & informative, the atmosphere was relaxed and it was exceptional value for money.
Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Nice wine list. The grilled octopus was superb and the Picanha steak was tender and nicely spiced. Also shared their really good empada (piglet pie) as a starter. Highly recommend Mae!
This was our favorite restaurant in Lisbon when we visited in March 2019. I thought I had done a review then but it appears not! My bad as this was the best food and experience we had in Lisbon and we had many. Măe, or mother in Portuguese, is the perfect gourmet neighborhood restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We are heading back to Lisbon in a few weeks and ate at Măe again. Just as delightful as in March!
