Rated highly that didn’t live up to expectation. Food was mediocre. Wouldn’t return nor suggest it to someone if they were visiting Lisbon. Ambience was also just okay.

The service and the food was more than we could have hoped for. This place is a real gem. Everyone should try it. There were plates to try which we had never sampled before and they were wonderful.what a great way to end our stay in Portugal.

Great find in Lisbon we were a party of 6 friends connecting the food and atmosphere were awesome totally impressed the service was excellent we will return the next time we are in Lisbon- thank you for making our experience one to remember! Gail :)

The best meal we’ve had in Spain and Portugal. We had the Rabbit Samosas and Garlic Fried Shrimp for starters. Both were in excellent, particularly the Rabbit which was amazing. Mains were the Hamburger and Grilled Octopus with Vegetables. Both were delicious. The wine list is excellent - the wines by the glass were exceptional. And finally the staff were friendly and professional. Loved our meal here

This is without a doubt one of the top 10 restaurants I've visited, the food was fantastic, the staff friendly & informative, the atmosphere was relaxed and it was exceptional value for money.

Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Nice wine list. The grilled octopus was superb and the Picanha steak was tender and nicely spiced. Also shared their really good empada (piglet pie) as a starter. Highly recommend Mae!

This was our favorite restaurant in Lisbon when we visited in March 2019. I thought I had done a review then but it appears not! My bad as this was the best food and experience we had in Lisbon and we had many.
Măe, or mother in Portuguese, is the perfect gourmet neighborhood restaurant. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. We are heading back to Lisbon in a few weeks and ate at Măe again. Just as delightful as in March!

Best meal of my entire time in Portugal. The atmosphere is perfect and every dish we got was truly I’m unbelievably good. Be sure to get the chocolate cake!

Best lamb chops I've had so far! Really well made food, nice staff. Situated a bit away from the central tourist district, but well worth the walk!

What a great way to spend our last evening in Lisbon. Our table of 9 was seated in a square, and the complimentary cheese tray and olives was a nice start to the delicious food we had. The owner was lovely, explaining the various Portuguese phrases on our placemat that only a mother would say! Great ambiance. Highly recommend this gem of a place!

A wonderful small restaurant off the beaten path in a residential area of the city. The cod dish was wonderful and my husband's steak was good. Service was excellent!

I really enjoyed how engaging. pleasant and patient the staff were (I asked a lot of questions about the food). I loved their idea of guests sending their Moms pics to be put up on their Mom wall, that is incredible. The food was also really good and in very generous portions. I wish I had discovered it earlier then I would have enjoyed more meals there before my trip ended. I highly recommend it.

Our trip to Mae met all expectations; it was delicious, had a nice ambiance, and delivered both fine dining and wine at a VERY reasonable price! The shrimp bras and a type of beef (whose name I definitely cannot remember) were both so good my husband and I did a “taste swap”. They were both so good we had to share! I’d definitely recommend!
