Absolutely love the food, service and the atmosphere. The restaurant is as beautiful as the dishes themselves and the staff is super friendly. The great variety of dishes (with meat, fish or vegetarian) is a huge plus as well!

We always come to Maratona when we Re in Portugal as the food and atmosphere are amazing. This time we enjoyed the great new dishes on the menu.

Very stylish restaurant and something of a treat to have a choice of interesting vegetarian options. However, the food was a bit disappointing. Both our starters (fried cheese sticks and octopus) were rather bland, and my tomato mayonnaise tasted like the dressing they used to put on prawn cocktails. Our mains were better but my squash was drowned in mustard sauce and the sweet potato crisps lacked interest. My partner’s pork came smothered in parsnip strips, which were excellent (our favourite part of the meal and my partner doesn’t even really like parsnips), but made it difficult to access the meat underneath until he’d eaten quite a lot of them. We had a good bottle of Portuguese wine, which was great value. It’s great to see an adventurous menu, but sadly the end results didn’t wuite match up to our expectations.

We came here for the 5th time.. and this time we where surprised that the quality of the food was less than before. The disches where served different and where not as good as before :(. Maybe a bad day for the cook? Offcourse we will return again :-)

As usual an excellent evening. Food fabulous and service excellent. Atmosphere great as it always is. This is one of our favourite restaurants in Caldas.

This restaurant keeps amazing us. We call it "The best restaurant in the world". Not because it is 3 -star Miclhelin, but because the balance between taste, price, presentation and atmosphere is so very very very...... special. Congratulations the Maratona team, once more. The "other project" in Sao Martinho do Porto, Taberna Marginal, is an excellent extention of the formula. Not a copy but a "translation", fit for the local situation. Bravo!

Every time we return to Maratona we are surprised by the creativity of the team. Surprising combinations of tastes and presentation. Great food in which vegetables play a major role. We love it ????

The food is great looking and great taste. The price range is good as well! Overall I could notice the effort they put on their work! And let me tell you, what a kitchen!-What a team! The restaurant itself has a good decoration and they even have a short TV video presentation telling a bit of the city story, about food and telling more about the story of their restaurant. I'll return one day!

Great meal, great service with a smile. As lovely as the meal was, It might be nice to try some new things on the menu as I don’t think it has changed much over a year.
