About the restaurant Mas Passamaner

El nombre escogido para este restaurante ha sido La Gigantea, en homenaje a la denominación original del espacio y a la región de Palencia, de donde es oriundo Ángel García Puertas, propietario de Mas Passamaner, donde la planta del girasol se conoce como gigantea.

Los fogones de La Gigantea están dirigidos por el prestigioso cocinero Joachim Koerper, que ya ha logrado los máximos galardones de la gastronomía mundial. Su particular mezcla de sabores y texturas usando como base los excelentes productos de la zona, hace que la clásica cocina mediterránea se vaya reinventando a sí misma, con sorpresas a veces desconcertantes.

Su bodega dispone de una cuidada selección de vinos de las mejores denominaciones de origen españolas tales como Priorato, Penedés, Somontano, Albariño, los célebres Ribera del Duero y Rueda y los actualmente en alza, Cigales, Toro, Rioja, Bierzo, e incluso Lanzarote.

The meal started off great - beautiful restaurant in beautiful setting. The seafood croquet appetizer was delicious. The entrees were very disappointing to say the least. My tuna was horribly overcooked - terribly dry. My wife's pork, on the other hand, was horribly under-cooked. Neither of us could finish our dishes. In hindsight, we should have sent both of them back, particularly given the high prices.
