When I think back at the restaurant "Schathoes Menkemaborg" the thing engraved on my mind is the complete service meltdown we have witnessed during our visit. The "Schathoes" is situated on the grounds of the "Menkemaborg" in an outhouse. A very nice setting, inviting for a sit-down to have lunch. Therefore, after our visit to the "Menkemaborg", we indeed sat down at an outdoor table of the "Schathoes". The staff went off on the wrong foot by ignoring our presence and serving all other tables, also visitors who sat down later, before at last acknowledging our presence and taking our order. As rain was threatening, we decided to relocate to an indoor table. We informed the staff and our drinks were duly served at our new table inside. However, our food was served outside, and, more curiously, at a different table than where we were seated initially. Although the guests at that table expressed their amazement at the unexpected food, the waitress did not reflect, but forced the order on them. And was this waitress an inexperienced weekend relief staff. No, it was, according to our observation, the "mother of the house", the same person who, within our earshot, had to apologize profusely to a group of a dozen persons, who had ordered a table, and she had completely forgotten so set out a table for twelve. This is the picture of the service culture of "Schathoes" as we have experienced.
