6/10Not so good this time, after two previous visits had been excellent. The impressive main dining space - the Brasserie - is now only open at weekends (Fri-Sun) and for functions. The bar area - still quite a smart location - is now set up for dinner Mon-Thu. Service is largely in the hands of young men keen to learn their trade but there were lapses - the couple on the next table were offered water while I was ignored, and my glass of white wine arrived a couple of minutes after the crispy squid starter, accompanied by the glass of red for the rib-eye steak main. This was well-cooked but poor value at over £25, with too much inedible,. and two small mushrooms and a small tomato looking rather lost on a large plate with an average portion of decent chips in a tin.. I didn't stay for dessert. If I return soon it will be at a weekend.

10/10Excellent food and service in a stylish hotel setting. The menu is shorter and less ambitious than on a previous visit, but it is quality produce, well-cooked and good value for money. Enjoyed crispy squid, wild mushroom & truffle linguine and a sensational dessert - Caramel Souffle - which came cold (so no preparation delay!). Lovely Pinot Gris wine too. Highly recommended.

10/10Delicious food - a large portion of fried squid, beautifully presented salmon fillet with ratatouille and parmentier potatoes, finished with cheesecake. New Zealand pinot gris was an excellent accompaniment. Friendly and incredibly speedy service. Worth staying at the hotel if you're visiting Chester as it has a large car-park and is adjacent to the Park & Ride. Accepts Yums too - one of the few places outside London. Will be returning!

7.5/10The starters were brilliant I had the squid and my wife had the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar main course I had the steak and ale pie the was served with broccoli and mash potatoes although the food was very hot the mash was powdered potato and this was the same on my wife’s meal she had the salmon the food was tasty but I was put off a bit by the mash. We had desert I had dark chocolate and cherry tart this was served with coconut ice cream and my wife had the panacota these were ok but I felt they weren’t good value.

10/10Ayo our waiter was lovely, personable and with a sense of humour. Wished us happy anniversary and showed us ro the table with a view the I had asked for. In my online booking. Ayp gave us enough time to read the menu and decide what we wanted. Food was lovely and exceeded our expectations. Sharing Platter, steakhouse burger, Korean kimchi burger, s'mores cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding with custard, 4pints of Pepsi Max totalled £82 but we had £50 yums so our anniversary meal was a mere £30! Thanks The fork!
