Lovely experience- small, welcoming and beautiful.

The restaurant was lovely and cozy. The tiled walls and stone created and intimate and special setting.

Great food, amazing ambiance and outstanding music. I loved the whole experience!

A very special and memorable experience.

We arrived 10‘ to early and we were pleased to come again in 10‘! This was the beginning of a big disappointment. The food and the wine were not more than 20 Euro. It was so loud that we could not speak to each other. But the Fado - music was wonderful!

The food was good. The gigs were very short - 3 or 4 musics - and not stunning. Average. At the end we were surprised by the fact that Mesa de Fados does not accept credit cards. Cash only. No previous information of this, not so small, detail. And if you don’t have enough cash or a card by which you can withdraw money from the nearby ATM machine, you better be ready to wash some dishes.

All in all a very good Fado evening

One goes to Mesa de Frades to hear the best Fado in Alfama! The food was secondary to me; that said I was surprised by how good the meal and wine was! The atmosphere was wonderful, the Fado excellent, and overall a memorable experience. I recommend to anyone visting Lisboa and in particular, Alfama!

Excellent place for Fado. Great performances & respect for the craft. Food authentic but average. Average service. However, firstly, no indication that the Fado would be late & after dinner (which was fine but there was no clear plan), secondly, it was not clear on fork that they were cash only which would have been helpful to know and thirdly, when told it was a cash bill but there was an ATM across the street which I duly went out to, they shut the doors and started the first set without telling me it was about to start & to wait. There was plenty of time between the first and second set to get cash. Subsequently, I rudely interrupted the first set after a staff member realised their mistake. Go but bring cash and if you don’t get it at the end. There is an ATM across the street. Don’t expect exceptional food and service. Go for the music.

Worth a visit for the music. Make your reservation at 9 or later. Earlier and you will be sitting waiting for the music for quite a while. We made ours for 9:30. Wine was included which was surprising given other reviews.

This is a secret..... The most amazing spot in Alfama, Lisbon. Perfect dinner, Excellent service and authentic Fado - real value for the money...

Excellent meal, but most excellent entertainment

Fantastic! Incredible service and atmosphere. The food was delicious and included bottomless wine and coffee - the atmosphere was great and we had an incredible Fado band! A wonderful evening!! Would definitely go here again.
