Midori

Wow, what an experience! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, everything was just perfect. The food was intriguing, creative, subtle, intense, all at the same time. I just wanted to stay longer, to keep experiencing the flavors again and again.

We have been fortunate to enjoy some amazing meals in Portugal but this was a whole different level. The thoughtful, respectful and inspirational inclusion of classic Portuguese flavors into traditional Japanese cuisine was perfectly executed. The staff was informative but also fun and obviously proud and excited by what they were presenting. One of the best meals...and best Michelin starred meals I have enjoyed.

A recent Michelin Star has placed this small restaurant on the gastronomic map. Located outside Sintra is Midori: a fusion of Luso and Japanese culinary ingredients from two great seafaring culture. The service is second to none, the ambiance, facing a Japanese zen garden is mystical. All the while consuming what has been perhaps one of the best meals of my life. I was whisked back to the term: hic sunt dracones, (here be dragons) as I had entered the unknown. Thank you chef for sharing your vision and thoughts with us, your fellow culinary travelers.

Excellent dinner at Midori, a perfect blend of Japanese and Portuguese cuisines. Great products and technique. The mushroom and truffle oshazuke is mandatory.
