Beautiful and warm atmosphere, lovely staff who were very educated on wines and pairings. We had the $79 tasting menu. Would have been nice to have a different starter type as all three starter tastings were sourdough based. Food was yum, just would have been nice to have less bread, bread, bread.

The Fork curated menu was superb, couldn't fault any dish. The service was impeccable and we even got extra dishes from the al la carte menu which was very delicious.

The restaurant was delightful though we couldn’t eat everything , so much food on the Fork menu. I’m gluten free and there was one course that wasn’t. It was no problem to change this course, everyone was very accommodating and helpful.

Really enjoyed my first time at Monopole, have been wanting to make it for some time and the stars finally aligned. Enjoyed The Fork Fooding Month menu which was great, really enjoyed the food. My only criticism would be that the initial dishes of the menu felt rather quick fire with the dishes coming at quite a pace one after another making us feel really rushed and like were were at a fast food, quick in and out meal. The pace did slow after we'd got through the first part of the menu which was good so we didn't have to inhale the food. And they accommodated us when we asked for a break before dessert. The food was really good and I'd be back but it would be good even when doing a set menu to be eating a pace similar to how you might enjoy/expect when ordering a la carte.

I liked the food presentation and the fine dining experience..Saturday night was a busy night for them so was a tad noisy but overall enjoyed the experience. The Fork's discount made the food a great value and worth it!

The food was delicious. The choice for main dishes was a bit limited. The french wine we ordered was really great but $$

Food was ok. Very business like. Wasn’t too impressed with table services though, very abrupt, and felt we were rushed all the time. Had expected a bit more friendliness. Unlikely to go back any time soon

The food was delicious!!, rarely we’d go to a restaurant and enjoy every single dish but wow, monopole really surprised us. We loved it, and were raving about it after we left. The oysters were fresh, the steak was soft, even the seasoning on the fries was delicious 10/10 !!

The food was tasty, but my main meal arrived only slightly warm, so was cold before I had eaten half of it.

I was expecting a kind of posh place but it was actually a cool place with good vibes. Great value for money. The staff was lovely. We shared some entrees that were delicious (Onion vol au vent, prawns sandwich and tuna tartare). For main, I had the Rump steak with fries - it was absolutely divine!! Good wine list as well. Would highly recommend that place and I will surely come back

Food was good and dishes came out quickly. Service was attentive until the restaurant got busy and wait staff then forgot order. Nice, cosy place.

foods are surprisingly very tasty (I didn't expect foods to have such an intense flavour) with a reasonable portion, the waiters are very attentive and very nice. The only downside is the noise from the outside.

About the restaurant

Chef Brent Savage and sommelier Nick Hildebrandt, the hospitality duo behind some of Sydney's best-known restaurants, opened Monopole Potts Point in December 2012.

Following the success of Bentley, they wanted to experiment with a more casual wine bar concept, offering a compelling selection of wine and cocktails, matched with delicious, wine-friendly food.

After 8 fantastic years in Potts Point, Nick and Brent announced Monopole would be re-locating to a new home in the heart of Sydney's CBD in late 2020.

Co-owner and sommelier Hildebrandt said: “We've been wanting to move Monopole to the CBD for a while and were offered a great site that is ideally suited to the evolution of Monopole. When we first opened, we loved that locals would drop in regularly for a glass of wine and snacks. This is a big part of Monopole's identity, which we look forward to introducing to the CBD.”

One of Monopole's highlights is Nick Hildebrandt's wine list, which features more than 500 rare and boutique wines, with around 30 available by the glass at any time. This list has won multiple awards, including Wine List of the Year in the 2017 Good Food Guide.
