An excellent Valentine's evening with a creative, intriguing and wonderful meal. The restaurant was full, everyone of all ages having a wonderful evening, attentive but not intrusive service, very friendly and helpful staff who took pride in their work and the food and wine they served. An interesting selection of dishes served in unusual ways making for a perfect evening, we left very happy and will return again.

Dinner was ok. Maybe our expectations were too high. But, we had a great meal there last year and they are mentioned by Michelin. And, when you factor in the cost, nearly $300 for three, pretty disappointing. First, the portions on some courses were too big. It’s not pleasant to be over-full with more courses to come. The risotto was just too much as was the pasta course ( on the vegetarian menu). Seasoning was good on most dishes. However, my husband’s lamb was over cooked and the accompanying beans were undercooked. The pigeon was undercooked. The two dessert courses were incorrect. Either the menus were printed wrong or we were served desserts from the opposite menu. As for the dessert with the apples, ice cream, and the bun with chestnut cream, it was awful. Way, way too big of a portion. Apples were so sour and unpleasant. The bun was dry and filled with a chestnut filling that was flavorless and grainy. Did someone actually taste this before putting it on the menu? By this point, we’re out of water and wine and just wanted to leave. 2 1/2 hours for dinner is a bit too long for three people. I did try to mention the concerns but the language gap was too big.

So lucky to have found this restaurant. Excellent food, awesome waiter!. Good location. Highly recommend. Our table neighbor was a restaurant owner from San Francisco, so we knew we picked a great spot.

My wife and I went for lunch, seeing as it was rated very highly. We ordered beef tartare, eggplant with burrata, and the truffle pasta. The beef tartare tasted spoiled and was inedible- after taking one bite I put it aside as I felt as though I was going to be sick. It looked more like finely chopped hamburger meat that was close to room temperature. The eggplant with burrata was soggy, with the water from the burrata spilling over the plate. Finally, the pasta was basically a spaghetti version of macaroni and cheese with a mound of shaved black truffle on top. We ate about half of it and then promptly asked for the check, wanting to remove ourselves as soon as possible.

Food was great, ambience and service excellent. On the down side, asked for wine by glass - was not offered a list, just the option of dry or not and then a glass brought without knowing what it was, same with the second glass but red. Asked for a coffee with the petit fours - didn’t come. Lots of glass and plates chipped or cracked.

Food was just ok. Needed more flavor. Eggplant and burrata was tasty but hard to cut the skin on the bumpy plates. The beef tartar was hard to eat, too sinewy. The paper thin veggies were nicely crisp. Ravioli was beautiful but boring. Service was like pulling teeth. Maybe because it was the day after Il Palio but they weren’t even that busy. The web site, fork, stated that they had two set menus for lunch, and I was looking forward to that. Just because I am a solo diner, I still want to be treated as a normal customer.

This is a,serious restaurant which just offers 2 tasting menus (one is vegetarian). Each dainty course was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was excellent.

This is a pretty special place in Siena. In an area where every restaurant is slinging the same “bistecca” or pasta or pizza, this restaurant has pulled together an incredible, high end tasting menu that fused together Italian traditions with global inspirations. And if you don’t feel like having the full 9 courses, you can opt for selecting 2 or 3. Yes, it’s more expensive than most of the other local restaurants, but the quality is extremely high, service was great and the ambience was perfect. Give this a try for a special night out.

Amazing experience from start to fini ! Try the Pici and all other dishes were excellent. luca is very warm and welcoming! Will highly recommend it for a non tourist spot in the Middle of all the tourist places

A fabulous restaurant in the heart of Siena. It’s high end price but the food and service make sit totally worth it. Such high standards of taste and using traditional Sienese dishes in a new and delicious way. Outstanding!

Very nice restaurant with excellent food. Staff was very professional and the sommelier was splendid. We had the tasting menu, in both vegetarian and meat, and it was to our pleasure.

Mugalone is in a great location. After reviewing the menu expectations are hight, however when the food arrives the good aesthetics of the plate are not followed by flavor or taste. Bit plain.
