Want to have an extraordinary lunch in Amsterdam? Enjoy a Period Room Lunch in one of the beautiful, 17th-century period rooms at the Museum of Bags and Purses. A wonderful 2-course lunch beginning with a savoury trio: a cup of soup, a small veal sausage roll and a mini goat’s milk cheese quiche. This is followed by a tiered stand full of deluxe sandwich fillings and salads, accompanied by a choice of special buns, tapenades and butter.
we had a most enjoyable time at the restaurant. We had a delicious high tea. we had a window table and really enjoyed people watching and seeing all the cruises go by. The table was set beautifully and our tea and treats were very yummy. The staff was very friendly and the service was good. Our seating was very comfortable and we could have spent the whole afternoon there but we were anxious to take in the purse museum. We would highly recommend this as a great afternoon outing to anyone who likes good tea and a good time.
A wonderful experience. Beautiful atmosphere. Kind and helpful service. I will definitely go again and take family and friends.
This museum was a delight. We had a special ‘Period Room Lunch’. The setting was beautiful and the food was delicious. Lunch was served on a three tier stand and everything very tasty.
We had tea here and it was a wonderful experience. The setting is beautiful with a great view of the canal. A relaxing and charming afternoon which I would recommend highly.
The museum is small but outstanding if you love bags, you will love it, I throughly enjoyed browsing at the beautiful masterpieces. And then we went onto afternoon tea wow what can I say, stunning is the word the surroundings are beautiful and golden and over looks the river, each and every course was amazingly presented and tasted out of this world, best afternoon tea I've ever eaten and I've tried quite a few. It is definitely a must if you visit Amsterdam it will not disappoint.
This is an amazing museum. It’s a hidden treasure of a place. A really must do. You really can’t visit Amsterdam without visiting here and having afternoon tea. Loved this place. Would highly recommend.
The dining room was beautiful, the service was very nice, and the teas, sandwiches and desserts were delicious and very high quality.
You can have high tea in many places but only in Tassenmuseum you can feel like a princess. Especially if you are lucky to get a table with the canal view in a room surrounded with paintings, just enjoy every bite with your guests. We were very satisfied with everything, and will definitely come back :)
Regal and quiet room overlooking the canal. Classic high tea with a tasty soup and selection of small savouries, followed by scones, lemon curd and clotted cream, in addition to other sweets.
The food and venue are amazing! The view to the canal is nice and we had a lot of fun with the window view. The foods is well prepared and go well with the teas as well as the sweets.
Wonderful! Everything was lovely! The pea soup was delicious and the desserts were devine. The hostess was very nice and I felt very relaxed whilst there
We had booked the high tea at the museum. The service was excellent, The food was very good and the setting was superb. Fantastic high ceiling rooms with 19th century decoration. Highly recommended.
More options of good high quality teas are needed to make it a real high-tea; the service was uneven, slow in the beginning; the 2 type of sandwiches (savories) are below a high-tea standard, but the cream soup was very nice. The cakes were good but the scone wasn't warm; the setting would require a nice table cloth, cloth napkins, some flowers on the table and possibly a light music (classics would fit fine).
Dear Melita, Thank you for your review. Unfotunately, your experience of our high tea was not how we intend it to be. We want your visit to be lovely and delightful and just perfect. If you send us an e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), we will be able to send you a more personal response. We would love to see you again sometime in our house! Kind regards, Team Museum of Bags and Purses
Expensive but very good quality teas and food! Perfect for a quiet moment and a nice chat. Really recommended if you like English cream tea and are in Amsterdam.
Everything was super nice, including food and atmosphere. But we are very disappointed at the services provided, the waitress are not too friendly and did not mention to us that the place is closing at 5, only abruptly disturbed our conversation and basically just tell us you need to leave at 5. Such a pity that a beautiful and elegant high tea place like this one have this kind of un-matching service. Even living in Amsterdam for almost 10 years, we expected better.
This is a excellent place for ladies to pamper and surround themselves in historic luxury. The service is attent, quick, and friendly. The etalagiere of savory & sweets are beautifully displayed. The 2 kinds of teas delicious (albeit limited), The scones, clotted cream & jams are not overly sweet. Sandwiches could use a bit more love and filling. But the best part is the interior, and if you have a table overlooking the water, the view. A perfect Dutch experience that satisfies the visual and culinary appetite.
The whole experience was amazing! The wait staff was kind and courteous! The food was amazing and the presentation of the food was beautiful! I would definitely go again!
We really enjoyed our afternoon tea. The quality of the food was excellent and the setting was lovely. There were 3 in our party and a round table would have been more conducive to conversation. The description of the tea on the website differed from what we were served. This was not a problem but customers should perhaps be made aware when booking that the menu could change.
Thank you for a beautiful afternoon tea in gorgeous surroundings. Much appreciate are request to sit by the window, it was so relaxing watching the boats on the canal. Would definitely recommend a visit for anyone in Amsterdam!
I booked the high tea as a special event with some of my cruise guests. It was the perfect choice as we enjoyed a great tea in a a beautiful setting.
