Dropped in on Saturday the 1th of November. It was Museumnacht in Amsterdam, my boyfriend and I wanted to eat something fast (but good) before we went to Nemo at the Central Station. We had to wait for 10 minutes, because we didn't have a reservation. It was around 19:00 and the restaurant was packed.

We got a table in the back of the restaurant, next to the bar. The table was in front of the stairway to the toilets, so a lot of people bumped into my boyfriend, wich was a bit irritating.

We ordered a pot of Chinese tea and 2 cokes. First we ordered 2 steamed oysters with black bean sauce. After that we ordered the squid with ginger and the fried noodles with beef. The food came in a good tempo and the service was really friendly, compared to other Chinese restaurants; they actually talk to you during service. The squid dish was a new dish I never had before. It was a good dish, but with a lot of spring onions (as vegetables) wich was too much for me. So we only ate the squid. We didn't feel rushed at all and left the restaurant around 20:30. The bill was € 40,- including tip, wich is very cheap for a really good dinner and nice service. Will definitly be back here, but next time I'll make a reservation.

One of my common restaurants. Always nice oyster an Peking duck! Service is normal and staff just do there stuff, no more or less. Interior is like a bathroom.
U come here for the food! Will be back for sure.

Went here with friends for some evening drinks and food, I arrived late; hence no idea about the queue time (There was when I arrived and I walked in :) )

Even tho it was busy, they did a good job with service. Not much to talk about the environment; it's clean enough not fancy or cosy and I have no complains, of-cause when you walk home; everyone knows what did you have for dinner!

Food was great, we ordered different dishes and shared among us. Good food and good quantity too. Maybe eat a little too much.

Extra mark on food for having that spicy chile oil, have to go back for that again....

I ldecided to stop at Nam Kee, in the Heinekenplein, for a quick drink in the sun. Although I love chinese food, and have gone to the original Nam Kee in Amsterdam's chinatown, time only allowed me time for a quick stop-over before work. I ordered a wine while my boyfriend ordered a beer, and the waitress brought over the drinks with a small portion of loempias. We looked over at neighbouring tables and noticed they all had a similar portion, wi their drinks or otherwise. As we assumed they were complementary (the waitress deposited em on our tables without so much as a word) my boyfriend nibbled at them as I went to pay the bill, minutes later. When I asked about the loempias (we didn't order them, yet it's on our bill) I was immediately yelled at by one of the employees. It was clear he expected me to inquire about the seemingly free loempias and I was automatically talked down to by his dramatic rudeness. As I was not able to get a word in edgewise through his telling, I payed the bill and told him he should be ashamed of himself. Nam Kee has lost a previously loyal customer for their trickery and their blatant rudeness. Not cool. Not impressed.
