amuses were excellent; fish & meat courses were perfectly correct but nothing creative; setting and service were excellent; marvelous spot for a pleasant evening with friends, but main courses were not unusual or really special ...

The food was delicious and creative. We loved the tiny dishes. The service was among the best we’ve experienced and they were attentive to our different food needs. They had an interesting wine list with good prices. Would happily go back again!

Great food but way too slow! More than 4 hours for a dinner is just too much. At time every table around us was waiting on their food...

Horrible food. Almost nothing to appreciate about it. Out of the 10 courses only 2 were eatable. It's a pity cause the location is nice and the staff well trained.

Our first Michelin star experience in the Netherlands, so we had high expectations.

Food was minimalist in presentation, but had some good flavor profiles.

Dining experience was 4 hours long for 10 courses, which is slow, even by European standards. Seated next to a fire-escape with a semi-repaired wall 2 feet away, so that lowered the ambience level a little.

General impression was it felt pretentious & overpriced for what was served.

We found the degree of minimalism to be a little too extreme for our liking, even though we typically eat very small portions. Deserts were much larger than main courses, which was disappointing - in fact the home made peppermint slice I had upon leaving was twice the size of any of the first three appetizers.

The food was very good, but we did not enjoy the dinner because of the excessively slow service. The waiters were kind and attentive, but it took us almost 4 hours to have a 5-course menu. The suggestions of the sommelier, after we asked him for a wine pairing, were also not very helpful.
We finally had 2 bottles of wine: a very good sauvignon blanc, and a quite bad red bourgogne.

For the price and expectations of a 1 Michelin Star restaurant, the food and atmosphere were up to standard, but a bad wine, and, especially, the extremely long waiting time between plates made the overall dinner experience a disappointment.
I don't think I will try again.

Not at all what you would expect from a Michelin restaurant. Friendly but unexperienced service. Poured cherry liquor (on waitors own initiative)in a champagne glass till the edge made us split it at the table and when we declined due to the taste still charged it. Water from drenthe in "niven" bottles gives the impression they serve you kranwater but then at high charge....same with bread.....all charges seperatly like the snakbar around the corner. Completly missed the vegetable wow effect.....too much desert compared to main dishes. Port poured in "ikea" wine glasses - perhaps we missed that trend.....
sorry but nothing that would trigger for another visit

Really lovely food and they were very accommodating to working with the allergies our group had. Each dish was just as exquisite as the last and beautifully presented. I had the accompanying wine menu as well, which paired with the food very well. Will definitely return.

The table was a bit small. Tables to close to each other (we had no view to outside), that made the room too busy and noisy. Water was spilled (a bit) when poured. Waiter re-asked for allergies (while I had already called about it in advance). They forgot the coupon I mentioned when making the reservation (offered a-la-carte menu). The starter-cutlery on both sides of our tables was sticky (made my hands so dirty I had to wash them). Stains on the carpet. Boring and simple decorations. The bread was served without salt, when asked, the salt we got was too salty and had no flavor. The wine was poured too fast in the glass, causing foam. Two waiters asked us if we wanted the cheese platter. Tea was served without offering a menu or a selection (a flavor had to be guessed). The tea came without any cookie, candy or chocolate (and 4 lumps of plain white sugar cubes). The toilet had no towels at the end of the evening in both man and women's bathrooms. The bathrooms had very little decoration and was not spotless clean. No toothpicks or peppermint or parting-gift was offered or visibly available. While the food was generally good (sometimes a bit tasteless and not very inspiring), the meat had a lot of fat and left us both hungry for more. Definitely not worth 2 stars.

The decoration is lovely, not too many details, the seats are very comfortable. The food was better than expected, the vegetables and the fish were perfect and the combined aromas fitted good. I will be definitely be going back there. The personnel is also very attentive and come to your table when the moment is right without being always hovering over you.

We had an iens deal at Niven where we had a 10 course tasting dinner. The food was tasty, presented elegantly and the ingredients were fresh. Service is much better than in usual however I would have appreciated if we were told that the champagne that was offered at the beginning fo the evening will be 14eur / glass. The decor is okay however starting to look a bit dated (carpet on the floor...really?)

I had Groupon lunch deal for four and we were looking forward to our Rijswijk Michelin experience with friends. We do these outings quite often being foodlovers. We had a good beginning with two amuses and starter with nice wine from Niven wine arrangement. But the main dish was a big disappointment - one of us was lucky to have lobster, but the rest had chicken. The difference in the presentation, taste and delicacy was far from Michelin star level. Dessert was not special, but the wine with it was tasty. Wine was made from own strawberries. Then about the service, I gave Groupon voucher on arrival and was asked for it three times. Furthermore, when the bill came we found the wine arrangement quite expensive and asked about it. The answer was that this is the price. After some minutes we were presented with a new bill as the colleague had by accident charged dinner wine arrangement instead of lunch wine arrangement. No apologies came with it. We were happy that the total price went down EUR 60, but unfortunately cannot look back to a nice lunch experience.

Tried out Niven with Groupon with a 10 course menu. I was very curious about a Michelin starred restaurant. The reception was very professional and the service was overly attentive. The two waiters were so attentive that it felt almost a bit agressive as they were rather cold. The decor was very straight lined and the placement of the chairs were so that all the guests were sitting staring at each other, which felt rather uncomfortable. The portions were extremely small and we left hungry. The food was very concentrated on sea shells and sea food with an excessive use of coriander leaves, both foods that I strongly dislike. There was two warm dishes that were really good, but again they were the size of thimbles. The bread accompanying the food was as rough as a two day old loaf from WWII. So, all in all, we left unimpressed and felt that we had dined in the style of the "Emperor's New Clothes." A lot of sophistication and formality and pretense, for not much substance.
