The restaurant was cozy and the service was good. The food was out of the ordinary (creatively prepared and presented) and delicious. I had pasta with orange butter in a bed of beets and my husband had veal meatballs and they were both the best we had while in Assisi.

Visited Nonna Nina last night. Greeted with complimentary Prosecco. Service and food could not fault. We shared faro salad for entree and had gnocchi with black truffle and pasta filled with Gorgonzola and pear sauce - both delicious Barbara Rowe, Sydney, Australia

Best ever, we have visited Assisi previously and Nona Nini is tops in quality, innovative and traditional dishes, atmosphere and warmth. They hit all the high notes for top service with friendly helpful staff and owners. Belisimo

We were greeted with prosecco upon arrival. The gnocchi were little pillows of happiness! We actually ate here twice and each dish was lovely but my favorite was grandmas meatball recipe. Thank you Suzy and Chef Tracey for your hospitality! Joan & Nancy

We had high hopes, having heard this was one of the best restaurants in Assisi. The service staff were good, but the pasta was way undercooked (hard) and the meatloaf dry and tasteless. The cooks need to taste the food they are preparing.

Dear Tom and Carol, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Nonna Nini. I am always open to constructive criticism in order to improve every aspect of the dining experience. However, I am extremely perplexed at the comment about the pasta being "undercooked (hard)' as all of our pasta is fresh (not dried). Could you help me understand what pasta you ate at my restaurant? As for the meatloaf I will leave this comment as one that is always open for personal preferences. Please know that we make the meatloaf each morning by hand (local beef and vegetables) and as the owner and chef I oversee and taste all that is served. I do not take your comments lightly as cooking is my passion and delivering top service, delicious food and delightful memories are my goals. If you have a moment, please let know the pasta that you ate. Thank you. Nonna Nini

Don't leave Assisi without ordering the Fioccheti al Gorgonzola e Crema di Pera. Trust me- it is amazing. Although a cream sauce, it is so light and beautiful. The service was top notch and a lovely atmosphere.

Fantastic experience! We had 24 people and Chef Tracy called me the day of to talk about menu options. After three amazing courses, everyone had “waved the white flag” until the tiramisu showed up and somehow stomach space was found to accommodate. A definite stop the next trip to Assisi

Very kind staff, very welcoming and nice. Starters and pastas were very good, pork was not great, but desserts were excellent. If I'd come back, I'd choose a pasta and a dessert - quality on meats is not as the other courses.

About the restaurant

The restaurant has been in the family for over 200 years. The famous Italian artist Nando created many of his works in this house. The portrait of his mother Maddalena hangs above the fireplace and the restaurant is named after his sister Nonna Nini (Grandmothet Nini - really known as Angela). The grandchildren who run the restaurant today had a difficult time to say Angela at a young age and the name Nini was born. In the restaurant you might meet the Enrico or Lorenzo or the wife of Enrico who is in the kitchen making the old family recipes.
