9/10The flavours were lovely, even though the presentation and portions were a bit subpar. If you're going to be so fiddly with all the elements on the plate, then you need to either give me enough of them to enjoy or create a truly remarkable experience. Still quite enjoyable, but just shy of full marks.

4.5/10Unfortunately our experience at Norma was not the best. The Tuna appetisers were a good option but the wine selection was quite disappointing a supposed to be 100% ‘Alvarinho wine’ as it says on the menu but from VIANA DO CASTELO, indeed a very strange choice since Alvarinho is a protected brand and kind of grape especially from Monção e Melgaço but as João the waiter assured us this brand from Viana do Castelo was a fine choice we decided to try it. The wine was quite bland and heavy with tannin not the best Alvarinho at all. The main course was a bit of a disaster, we chose the picanha with baked rice which came to the table very salty clearly by the use of powder chicken stock making it impossible to eat, we called João and he took the dish back to the kitchen as he agreed the dish was over salty,after 20 minutes waiting the 2nd dish was not cooked properly the rice was hard and the meat raw full of nerves. A complementary desert was offered and some chips ( tasted like frozen ones

10/10What a surprise! We really enjoyed the experience to have dinner at Norma, especially the 7-course menu with pairing wines. And our waiter João (the one with the curls), well, what an example of how a waiter should be. Totally recommended!

6.5/10Everything was ok but definoitely not worth a Michelin recommendation. Most food was plain - as yu would cook at home, nothing really special. To dress up they have this nonsense story about a little kid growing up and trying to connect every dish to a phase in the life cycle. Very unnecessary, artificial and distracting, even disturbing when they started serving cocktails in baby milk bottles. Very accurate as well as hilarious is the writing on the wall at the exit: "The best is yet to come"... no better way to decribe our sentiments. It's an experience... but I have had much better meals for half the cost.

8.5/10Restaurant was good. Had the Pork which was really good. One interesting issue, when we went to pay they said only cash, as they said their machine didn't work. This seemed strange, as this is not a cheap restaurant, wouldn't you disclose this beforehand. Though I had the cash for our dinners, say we would have had the tasting menu and a nice bottle of wine, I sure wouldn't have been carrying that much cash. For an expensive restaurant to not take cards, or at least not divulge this beforehand seems a little bit odd.

10/10Norma restaurant was so delightful that we canceled other dinner plans to return the next night. The creative food, beautiful upstairs terrace and the warm and caring service were too attractive to pass up. We thoroughly enjoyed the playful way the chef updates Portuguese classic dishes and the plating is beautiful.

10/10We ate on the private upstairs balcony/terrasse with a view of the hillside. It was mesmerizing to watch the sun setting and the city lights come aglow. Our meal was delicious and creative… crab profiteroles with a tomato glaze and topped with a dollop of creamy cheese and a basil leaf delicately presented on a dish filled with river rocks . The gazpacho had a nice contrast between the crunchy bits of tomato, onion, croutons and cucumber and the creaminess of the cheese…surrounded by a cloud of ethereal foam. The mains were perfectly cooked duck breast with a port wine reduction and served with roasted onions and beets and salmon prepared 3 ways (cured, crudo with roe and seared). One of the best meals we have experienced in Portugal. Highly recommend dining here.
