5/106 people. Martini order was not correct. It took over 20 minutes to get the right drink...while the rest of the table was served wine/drinks. (apparently the rooftop bar made the drink and we were in the restaurant on street level) . Half the table received their meals... while other half waited to be served at least 15 minutes later. Food was disappointing for most of us too and we won't be back (all 3 couples we live in Funchal). Atmosphere was nice.

8.5/10Food was great. Service was spotty but it was NYE so there’s that. Two of us received complimentary sparkling wine the rest didn’t. The food was excellent.

5.5/10The food was ok, pretty basic, not overly hot, small portions. Nice service, pretty empty. It’s a cafe, try it for lunch, probs a bit pricy too for what you get.

9/10The tuna main was great but unfortunately the veal carpaccio was lacking in flavour (we had to add the oil from the complimentary olives to try and add something). That said the service was first class so I’d still go back but would choose a different starter.

5/10Restaurant is well located although parking is tricky. Food was disappointing. Cod was cold and dry and the olive crust was only some olive paste spread on the top of the codfish. The grilled tuna was over cooked making it dry. Staff was good.

10/10We made a quick reservation on NYE. They delightfully accommodated us. Servers were friendly. Food and wine was excellent. Our server recommended the madeira mousse for dessert. Perfect for NYE as it filled the raisin requirement.

5/10We booked a table for 7.30pm and arrived earlier so as to have a drink at the table before dinner. When we arrived the waiter promptly told us that they were closing at around 8.30pm as they were all going to have their Christmas dinner,, a point I believe, which should have been communicated at the time of booking! The food was very average and not very hot! The mini oven potatoes served with the bacalhau, were overcooked and tough to eat, the tofu dish chosen by my friend was tasteless and the prawn linguine chosen by the other two were very small portions! All in all, not the greatest experience! We have enjoyed lunches at O Calhau in the past so I think that in future we will stick to lunchtimes only there and have dinner elsewhere!

10/10Very good restaurant just behind Funchal's cathedral, we had dinner outside and the tables have a nice view on the bell tower. Very good quality of meals and wines. Excellent service, very friendly personnel.

6.5/10The soup and the main cuisine weren’t hot. We send the soup back to heating. The waiter was really friendly. The taste of the food was okay, not bad.
