The food at this charming restaurant was delicious. It was our first experience here and it will now be our favourite restaurant to take friends or family or for a treat. They have a set menu where every dish is of excellent quality. There are 5 starters, 2 main courses, deserts, coffee, water, and wine included in the price, along with homemade lemonade for the designated driver. We had a tapas board, warm bread with olive oil and garlic, mackerel in onion sauce, tempura sardines, clams and cockles as the starters. The mains were monkfish with tomato rice and pork with roast potatoes. Desert was a selection of lovely traditional cakes. The whole meal could not be faulted.

The ambience, the food, and the service combined all made this a memorable meal. The restaurant is nestled in the streets of the hilltop town of Estombar near the town cathedral. Highly recommend!

Great little family run restaurant where you just turn up and are fed! Huge selection of traditional, Portuguese starters (5 sharing plates) followed by three mains and a selection of little desserts. Wine, water and soft drinks included in the price of €38 per head. Another excellent meal introducing friends who had never been before to our recent find. Loved the usual starters board arriving within minutes of sitting down and a favourite dish tonight was the octopus dish - imaginatively presented and delicious.

An amazing culinary experience shared with friends, everything was delicious including the house wine and medronhos with honey at the end, we’ve eaten there 5 times and each time it’s been a delight from start to finish. A lovely small restaurant, typical Portuguese with amazing food and friendly service. We will be back again!

O Charneco is such a great experience. We often take guests there to have a completely Portuguese evening; fixed menu, fixed price, plenty of food and dishes you don’t often find in everyday restaurants. Any more descriptions would spoil your visit
