    Fantastic from start to finish so many highlights . Delicious light starters of zucchini flowers stuffed with mozzarella. Lasagne so tasty. Deserts to savour. Kind hosting and no it's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for . A must try if your in Venice Molto Bene !

    The staff were excellent in every respect and the restaurant space itself was very pleasant. Contrary to many other reviewers, however, I cannot recommend all of the food. A veal carpaccio with ‘seasonal vegetables’ turned out to be (good quality) veal with lamb’s lettuce. A very vinegary salad consisted mostly of almost-raw root vegetables and string beans. Each ingredient had its own distinctive sourness. The effect seemed quite intentional, though peculiar. Something similar could be said of the black fettuccini with cherry tomatoes, mullet roe (bottarga), and pangrattato. The dish was presented very well, but its over-the-top oiliness and pungency were overwhelming. Again, one felt the cook meant it to be so; but it’s not a taste I could easily acquire. The menu was a bit limited on the evening we visited. Absent were ‘sarde in soar’, ‘baccalà mantecato’ or ‘variously prepared local fish and squid’, as advertised on the restaurant’s website.

    They were very friendly. The ambiance was good. Everything eas very clean. Housewine was very good. Homemade black tagliatella was really bad. We wanted some spicy sauce to make it a little bit eatable but they dis not have it. Tiramisu was good.

    Very attentive and welcoming staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Food exceptional. Could not fault any of the dishes. I'm particularly critical of restaurants that salt already salty sea food. The mixed fried fish was perfect. You could taste the fish rather than the salt. Clever dessert menu. You will have to visit to see how it is presented. I am returning!

    Perfect! My wife and me had our first wedding anniversary in Venice and I decided to surprise her with this special place. The food was very delicious, we spend on two glasses of wine for each, primi, segundi and a dessert around 160€. But it was totally worth it.

    A very busy and lively restaurant.The staff were attentive and very helpful to insure of the best experience for all ! The food was varied and tasty and the wine menu gave plenty of choice. We visited in Venice’s worst week for high tides and although everyone had suffered, the service did not show It at all.

    Our 4th visit to Oliva Nera. My wife & I go when we visit the Venice Biennale & each time standard of food service has been just about perfect. Make no mistake this is not a cheap restaurant & you should expect to pay at least €120 euros for 2 people including a glass of wine or spritz each. However, that is good value as the menu of local produce & very high standard of fresh ingredients, precision cooking & presentation display Oliva’s pride, effort & attention to detail. We shared delicately flavoured battered and fried stuffed zucchini flowers to start followed by perfectly cooked sea bass and home made bigoli (fat pasta) with a rich rabbit ragout. We chose to share the chef’s surprise for dessert which I would describe as a sticky date pudding cake with some creamy caramel ice cream. I drank a very delicious and generous house red and my wife a well made select spritz. It’s a great place & we have always been delighted here. I would highly recommend even to the most demanding diners.

    This was a most disappointing evening. Service was slow and somewhat arrogant, 860 Australian $$ for 6 people was too much to pay for a very disappointing meal. We would not recommend.

    Very friendly and welcoming to Americans. It is a family owned restaurant with home cooked Venetian cuisine. We had the zucchini flowers to start. Lasagna and Sea bass for dinner and tiramisu and mascarpone with berries for dessert. Very delicious!!

    Faultless dinner perfected over generations and served by this charming, family-owned restaurant. Reservations a MUST, so many disappointed people turned away while we were eating. You’ll want to try everything - including dessert, which is an experience in itself.

    My favorite restaurant in Venice. It is a "treat" as it is not inexpensive. But I make it a point to eat here each year when I am in Venice. Food is outstanding, flavors are lovely. While offerings are generally "traditional" to the region, preparation is definitely elevated. The owner (?) is very warm & inviting. I tend toward heartier dishes, so I can't speak to the pastas. But the meats, fishes and seafood items are delicious. I highly recommend.

    This restaurant should be further up the ratings. We asked to eat outside (booking essential) and it was delightful. Prompt attentive service. The food was delicious. We both had the black fettuccini with crayfish, seared sesame tuna with beetroot sauce for me and my husband had the best calves liver he's ever tasted, followed by delicious ice-creamy desert with berries and a "chef's surprise" which was a sort of fig brownie - gorgeous. My only sadness was I asked for a Bellini cocktail which they didn't do but we made up for it with a lovely pink Prosecco. A parting boxed gift of a bottle of olive oil was much appreciated and we certainly had a "Golden" celebration. Would return in an instant.
