9.5/10We had the garlic prawns and steak tartare along with a house red wine. Everything was first rate with a small amount spice heat in the tartare that I tasted before it was served. Dessert was tiramisu which was a bit too wet but otherwise a light post dinner repast. The cappuccinos were great. When the house is full the noise can be loud. We will return.

8/10I really like this place though today I found the food to be just “normal”. Service as usual very good. As always, somewhat empty and lacking ambience

9/10Parilla el Barril Carnes y Pescados a las Brasas in San Agustin, Madrid, offers a quaint and cozy dining experience with a focus on grilled meats and fish. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and perfectly suits the environ that greets you as you enter. We were intrigued by the menu, although we found it a bit limited. This restaurant is very near the Madrid Westin Palace Hotel on Prado where we were staying. During our visit, I opted for the Steak Salad. It's important to note that it featured "Steak Bonito," which to my misunderstanding, was not beef but rather a tuna steak. While this was a delicious surprise, it was not what I initially expected. Make sure to read the menu descriptions CAREFULLY! For those accustomed to American steak preparations, be mindful when ordering. My husband's steak ordered at medium doneness came out quite rare, more on the bloody side than he prefers. It seems that steak here is generally served less cooked than in the States, so I'd advise specifying if you like your meat more on the well-done side. Overall, our experience at Parilla el Barril was delightful, with friendly service and a charming atmosphere. The only drawbacks were the limited menu and the need to adjust expectations regarding meat doneness. A solid four-star experience for anyone looking to enjoy traditional Spanish grill in Madrid.

10/10We loved this restaurant. Had the artichoke special appetizer and wonderful Hake in a lovely garlic sauce served for two. Dessert was a heavenly pastry. Super delicious bread served too. Loved our very friendly waiter. Don’t miss this place.

2/10DO NOT GO - Deceitful! Paid more than I ordered, slow service (even though we were the only table in the restaurant). Very expensive for the quality as well. The quantity of Fries was ridiculous. The manager is entirely responsible and should be fully ashamed as his employees are great (I believe they should leave for another restaurant btw).

10/10Coming from a family of foodies, chefs and sommeliers, I have to admit that I can be a harsh critic.. So trust me when I say this place was wonderful. My husband and I were visiting Spain on vacation and just LOVED this place. We were having a hard time narrowing down which restaurant to go to and finding a middle ground between not wanting busy and touristy places with bad food and not wanting to go to a locals place with mostly tapas either. We finally decided to make 2 reservations and then walk past both to get a feeling for each place and decide. We first walked past this place and at 9:30, we were surprised to see it empty. There was a manager/owner) dressed formally in a white coat who was friendly and kind and the place looked clean and had great ambience. We went to the other place just to compare and while it was busy and the ambience looked good there too, we couldn't help but think of the friendly face and the empty restaurant and decided to go back here instead. WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID!!! For the first 30 minutes we had the place to ourselves and despite not speaking very much Spanish they were so kind and friendly and accommodating. The food was so fresh and the portions were surprisingly large. The flavor of everything was truly phenomenal and prepared to perfection. The restaurant also provided us with a few dishes on-the-house as well: bread and chorizo, two little cakes and two shots of a delicious liquor to finish. I cannot rave enough about the staff, the quality of the food and our experience. My husband claimed it was his favorite restaurant experience ever (that includes all places we visited in the US, Greece, Italy and Portugal). We loved this place so much that the next night (our last night of the trip) we searched for other places and decided that we had to go back to this restaurant because we knew we would end our trip on a great note. The restaurant was busier on that night (Saturday) but we still received the exact same supreme service and quality. Do NOT look over this place!!
