About the restaurant Picatostes

A warm welcome, we managed very successfully to negotiate menu with a mixture of Spanish and English. The first course of cheese and various accomplyments was very successful as a sharing plate. Both the beef and roast kid very tender, there were some lovely flavours with the baked apple desert. We thought the price was very fair for the quality of the. food and ambience. It was well supported by locals which is always a good sign.

Warm welcome at this lovely, local restaurant. Plenty of daily specials to choose from and a couple of extra touches: free Hors d'ouvres and a delightful bread basket. I had an 8pm booking, so people were just starting to arrive as I left. A great choice for a nice meal in modern surroundings in north Santa Cruz.

Food was great. We had the foie gras, which was superb. My wife had the Tuna which she enjoyed, I had the pork knuckle special - delicious. We finished with the forest fruit soup dessert. Awesome. 2 minor complaints... Gave us the bread and dips which we didn't order and charged us for it. It was tasty, but we didn't order it. Also, each course came out really quick. Overall though, this place is great. We loved it.

A very classy operation, without the equivalent price tag. A little off the beaten track, but still only ten minutes walk from the centre. Short but well executed menu and wine list, The Pamplona fish was superb, excellent arroz negra, English menu and staff for those that need it. Can’t fault it really!

The ham is really good. You can see the chef cutting the ham out of the whole ham leg. I ordered the roasted kid, which is made from baby goat. To be honest, it is good but not as good as what other reviewers described. We also ordered the pork cheek stew. This is surprisingly amazing. Highly recommended if you are a pork lover.

Incredibly good cuisine with very creative food arrangements that not only please the palate but also the eye. Exquisite wine regional selection. The service was really nice and competent and we enjoyed our stay a lot!
No vegetarian or vegan options on the menu, but I am sure, if you ask them to prepare you something without specific products, they will be happy to do it!

The atmosphere and the food was very good, the only thing that bothered us was one of the waiters that was in kind of race to clean out our table;)

The food wasn’t very good. I had a tuna dish with mushrooms and the flavour of the tuna steak was extremely strong. The mushrooms were super salty.

We order some ham to start and that was ok.
The basket of bread wasn’t very good, the slices of thin bread weren’t crispy and th sauces were very average.

For the price of the food and all the good reviews I saw I was expecting much better.
