6.5/10Service was good. Food was OK but way too expensive compared to what you get. It felt like sitting in a hotel lobby, which the restaurant actually is.

7.5/10The food was nice, especially the Cornish crap for starters which was presented beautifully and unlike anything I’ve tried anywhere before. The steak was nice but the fat chips was little on the soft/soggy side so could have tasted better if it was fried slightly longer. The service was impeccable and the waiters and waitress who served us were attentive and friendly. They did go out of their way especially when they were taking photos for us it made me feel like a celebrity ???? However, I was disappointed when they told us that we couldn’t cut the birthday cake my friends had made for me especially and were told that we could only photograph it but couldn’t eat it at the restaurant. Both of them live far out from me, so we had to take it home to eat ( luckily I lived close to city centre) before coming back out again later in the evening to finish the celebrations???? this spoiled our experience and kind of ruined the end to the evening. This of course was at no fault of the waiters/waitresses but obviously the management. Never have we experienced this ever before around the restaurants in city centre esp as regular foodie /diners and have had many bday celebrations before where we bring our own cake. The allergy reason seem vague as we were not sharing it around with anyone else, andonly 4 weeks prior to this when we attended the Great Gatsby charity ball upstairs, my friend celebrated her husbands 40th and she brought him a birthday cake too n the staff served it with no issues. Seem to be a diff rule for diff occasion even though it wasn’t inside the restaurant it was still within the same hotel ????????♀️ For that, which is a shame we won’t be going back there for any celebrations and prob won’t dine there again.
