9.5/10Always a great experience. The food and the staff are great. Also, they cater for and understand Coeliac (GF) requirements. They even stock GF Beer - O-Briens.

8.5/10Very tasty food, and a plethora of gluten free and vegetarian options. It isn't cheap food, but it is delicious and decent servings. The one blemish was that the service didn't match the food price - we had to constantly flag down the wait staff for any service, which was unfortunate. That said, it was still a lovely meal.

8/10Food exceptional, service was fairly lacklustre for first 20 minutes but improved markedly throughout lunch. As it was an “all you can eat” yumcha Sunday, we had to wait outside with a hoard of hungry people for what I assume was a second sitting, to start at 1.30. I would suggest seating people (particularly those with reservations and who intend to eat a la carte) as they arrive, as opposed to seating everyone at once. Overall, a good experience - we were able to order one of my favourites - Singapore style king prawns, off menu. Wine list good too. Will be back, might avoid a Sunday next time though.

10/10Red Emperor is a great restaurant for Cantonese cuisine, especially yum cha. Wait staff were friendly and professional. Pricing is on the high side, though expected from the locale.

10/10The food was superb - the Peking duck was delicious so glad we got 2 each. And the mains of sweet and sour pork and salt and pepper calamari with side of Chinese broccoli was perfect combination. Our service was impeccable from start to finish - thank you to the young lady and the rest of the team. And our table on the verandah was spot on for this evening. Definitely recommend and will be going back again.

8/10We did not think that the food was as good as some places in Chinatown. No roast pork nor roast duck in the $60 deal. That was poor. For $180 for three, it was not up to standard. Also the chilli oil had no oil. Just lumps of chilli. We had to ask for oil. The service was agreable particularly from the young lady serving us. The location was excellent. Please note that one of the toilets in the Ladies has no lock on it.

9/10Great yum cha as always, although there seemed to be slightly less variety than usual. Their gluten free options are many and made so well you couldn't tell they are GF.

10/10Helpful and attentive service, lovely setting as we were seated near the window overlooking the Yarra, many dim sum options to cater for various dietaries among our group (vegetarian, fructose intolerance). Also love that they have trolley service! Also I changed the booking to 6 over the phone and Red Emperor were very happy to accommodate this. Food came out very fresh, good variety of options and staff were happy to take our order for vegetarian dumplings, noodles and bao. Great range of vegetarian friendly options, which can be hard to find at yun cha. We tried a range of dumplings, bao, cheung fun, turnip cake, sticky rice in lotus leaf, and idk the English term for them but those dessert deep fried red bean balls with sesame seeds on the outside :) Tea and water were topped up regularly without us asking once. Would definitely return to try more dishes and for the excellent service!

4.5/10Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted to pay as we ate or do the $60.00 each all you can eat. We opted for the all you can eat but what a disappointment. Almost every trolley that came past they ignored our table and served the tables around us who were paying as they ate. The trolleys that stop the most were the steamed dumpling ones (cheapest option of all). When we did finally ask for a menu to order we ordered honey bbq pork which came out after 10 minutes COLD also ordered sticky rice which took 20 minutes and finally ordered sago pudding which took 35 minutes to come out. They had no hesitation in constantly offering drinks (of course paying for these separately. Don’t know if I would go back again.
