9.5/10The welcome was friendly and the owners served us. We asked them to choose 5 dishes for our table of 4. Each dish came gradually, not all at once, so we could enjoy and savour the flavours. We were never rushed. Every dish was tasty, flavoursome and well cooked and served. Overall it was an excellent experience and I will gladly recommend it to friends.

9.5/10We've eaten at this restaurant several times and it has always been great; including this visit. My favorite dish was the steak. Unfortunately, the restaurant changed their menu, but hadn't updated The Fork. So, I was disappointed in that regard. The dish I wound up getting (the pork) was very good. My only complaint was that the menu on The Fork was not the same.

We followed a local recommendation for tapas and were not disappointed. The place was difficult to find, and it doesn’t open before 8:30 PM. Despite the restaurant’s simple setting, the food was absolutely delightful, and we indulged in a feast accompanied by the finest wine. A true hidden gem, it's off the beaten tourist track and not overcrowded, making it all the more enjoyable—an experience I highly recommend. To top it off, we were served a "Dark Misteln" for the twisted soul at the end… right up my alley 👻.

Fabulous absolutely delicious food. Try something that you may not have had before. You will not be disappointed. And the amalgamated desert is excellent. A little bit of all the puddings. So no need to make a choice.

7/10This is a bar with a basic kitchen which markets itself as a restaurant. All dishes had very complicated sauces, which were all very similar, and which masked the actual taste of the dish. I had the impression of having very similar dishes in different variations. Quite noisy overall, which is what you expect from a bar ambiance. Very friendly service, which was the only highlight!

8.5/10Wonderfull local restaurant where you are supposed to share the dishes (as in so many other restaurants in Spain) Super friendly staff, very good food, only a bit uncomfortable wooden bench to sit on, with a little boy at the other side of the bench, banging ALL the time with his feet against it! 😞 Absolutely necessary to book in advance, because it is only a small place.

10/10My experience at El Refugio was one of the most delicious and enjoyable of my life. The quality of the food was outstanding. The ceviche and duck I received were beautiful and left a party of flavours in my mouth. The owners truly made you feel special with their care to you. I would highly recommend this restaurant, but make sure you make a reservation. This is a small restaurant with a very intimate setting. You fedl that you are around friends at El Refugio. I will definitely be back.

9.5/10Yet another visit to this restaurant- love the quirkiness of this - sharing plates in the order they are cooked - not necessarily starters & then mains! Not sure exactly what nationality they serve - a combination of Spanish, Japanese, South American , Asian - but we really like it. My only criticism would be that the bench seating is very hard and uncomfortable… but the food makes up for it!

100% on everything Amazing food , so good that we only have one night left and didn’t think anywhere else could compare so we’re booked again tomorrow night! Friendly service too, would not miss out on coming here if we return to Valencia

10/10Refugio offers a different type of mediterranean food in a fun atmosphere. Dishes are designed for sharing so it's possible to try several dishes. The cochinita pibil is a favorite but all are consistently good. Paco and his wife play interesting music and are delightful. Highly recommended.

Wow, a must visit little restaurant . Smiling staff followed by oblong plates of food wonderously put together. We had ravioli, tuna and chicken as mains followed by a smoked cheese ice cream with Garam-masala chutney. Will certainly be going back to explore the rest of the menu!

10/10Refugio was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint! Pedro and his wife provided a beautiful meal, the best of our entire trip, paired with excellent wines and some homemade sherry. They were both great fun and clearly enjoy their job. We laughed, ate, drank and left very very happy.

9/10Wonderful evening in Refugio - modern tapas for sharing with friends. Every dish we ordered was delicious, would love to go back to try the rest of the menu! The staff were warm and friendly. A lovely experience, would definitely recommend.

6.5/10Food and wine were great. The service was horrible. The food came out so fast that we had no time to enjoy the course being served. We were told “that’s the kitchen”. Will not go back.
