About the restaurant Restaurant Antep Sofrasi

It starts at the source

Gaziantep is a city in the east of Turkey. In the east of Amsterdam you can now experience this Turkish cuisine yourself. The name antep means good source and looking at the Turkish city it is famous for the origin of delicious pistachios. In this region the food is hot and spicy like Dolma, Lahmacu and Cig Kofte. A true pleasure!

Quite an unexpected discovery in my neighbourhood! Instead of an average Turkish restaurant in Amsterdam Oost, this is a place with food tasted fresh and expertly made. The service was excellent - a proper waiter that knew what he was talking about when we talked about the menu and wines. Helpful but not too in your face. Very happy to go there more regularly.

I was expecting AS to be good, as I enjoy grills & flavourful food and lived in the Middle East for some years.
But Antep Sofrasi exceeded my expectations with a splendid array of flavors and meat (chicken, lamb) grilled to perfection. The hummous was mild & slightly lemon'ish but perfectly complemented the food. The grilled onion with promegranate was unexpected and spectacular !

The ambiance is unpretentious but very authentic. Makes you feel like you are walking into a genuine Turkish home. Lots of Tutkish customers having a blast which already tells you how authentic this is.

Seats are available next to the grill but make sure to specify in the reservation. Live Turkish music and a reasonable overall price (25 E pp approx incl desert) make for a great experience and I look forward to going back !
