Ate here during a trip to Leeuwarden because we were interested to try Frisian cuisine. However I think the cuisine is not Frisian at all.
Waited ages to see a menu despite being the only guests. During this time we were brought some sausage wrapped in white chocolate, my boyfriend ate these as I am vegetarian. Then some bread and tapenade which was nice.
I ordered the only vegetarian option and my boyfriend ordered some eel and another fish which came in two strips attached to a stick. He said it tasted nice but was very small portion. My dish consisted of 3 tiny tartlets, like something you would find at a buffet. Also on the plate were two miniscule peices of cauli and two microscopic mushrooms. It wasn't very tasty.
Two small side dishes were brought. One appeared to be very burnt fries. The other appeared to be shredded lettuce. I was shocked to find meat peices in the lettuce when I had ordered a vegetarian meal. When I mentioned this the staff member said 'well you ate the sausage', Which I hadn't done. No apology. I also said I didn't like the burnt fries. The response was that these were not fries but some kind of mashed potato put through a machine and fries. Ok, but there's no need to burn them. What would have helped the meal would have been some potatoes and vegetables, lots of them, to fill us up.
We left hungry and very annoyed to have spent 50 euros on such a poor meal, we had to eat some bar snacks elsewhere.
I would avoid this place as there are nicer restaurants in the area serving better food at a better price.
