Salat la Caneda...staying a weekbtravelling around our 4th time to France we decided to make this a 11 week trip with various countries driving around on the right side of the road. 6000km approximately. We stopped here for a week. We decided to treat ourselves to somewhere different and out of town. So I jumped online to look at Restaurants and reviews and came across 'Le Meysset'. We were early to our booking and promptly seated by our waitress. Our French....well we try...our waitresses English was excellent. Must of been the 2 years in Ireland too that helped her on her way and with fond memories of the country. The Menu was a little challenge with the options...however we managed. We discussed a wine and the suggestion was terrific. The food was creative delicious and good-sized portions....terrific. We also were given the opportunity to select our knives for our main. Nice touch. Our desert was such a surprise... lit up and dramatic.Sumptious flavours. We dined and walked out such happy patrons. If in the area again. We would go back in an heart beat. Well done....beautiful spacious settings too. Affordble.Thankyou it's Magic

The restaurant has set high expectations for us - they have a beautiful dining room and great outdoor terrace with wonderful views. However, the dining experience was disappointing - the food was lacking taste and was nothing special at all. Most of the food was not seasoned, the pork chops were overdone and dry and the cod dish was pretty bad. They offered to replace the cod dish which one of our diners could not eat at all, for any other dish, and the new dish was better than the previous one, but the mood and experience were already set off. I hope they will review their menu options and improve the taste of food - as I mentioned, the place is beautiful and deserves a better dining experience.

I felt we did not have the menu possibilities explained very well to us. We saw other guests eating dishes we had not realised were available. Our waiter whilst very pleasant found English tricky. My wife does not like tapioca and her dish selection included that, so understandably she did not finish the dish. Our son is a Ballymaloe trained chef, and we have eaten in more than one of the top ten restaurants in the world, so are not unfamiliar with good restaurants which this undoubtedly is. Just a bit disappointed for a wedding anniversary dinner, but are prepared to accept it was our fault for not ensuring we understood the possibilities on the menu

Hello, your comment leaves me doubtful. Indeed some people who stay in our hotel have half-board menus which are not à la carte. You write that your son went to the best culinary school and that you have frequented the best restaurants in the world. I don't understand the link with our establishment and the prices we offer which are obviously not the same as the best restaurants in the world. All this being very subjective and up to everyone's discretion... I am delighted that you have the means to visit the most beautiful places on the planet, but unfortunately we do not have this vocation, and we do not seek the stars , but just that our customers have a good time, simple and from our region without any pretension.

A delightful location with a varied menu. Food quality excellent overall though had to send back a very over cooked fillet steak. This was replaced without fuss and the replacement was perfect Would recommend.

The food was very inventive, with traditional perigourdaise ingredients combined with unusual combinations. The presentation was great and the service was excelllent. What’s more, the location is absolutely fabulous with incredible views from the terrace.

We booked in advance from the States and were looking forward to dining here on our last night in Sarlat. The kitchen seemed be overwhelmed due to two large tour groups and not enough wait staff. Despite taking an order for it, we were later told the kitchen did not have the time to prepare their featured menu item of their multi course black truffle centered dinner. Beautiful setting and lovely terrace. We had a disappointing experience and we will not be back.

Hello, your description is incorrect : you ordered a Perigourdin menu. When the starter arrived, you realized your mistake, and asked for a Truffle menu instead. Sorry, but in the non-overwhelmed kitchen, everything was in preparation for the Perigourdin menu you ordered. The two tables around yours ordered Truffle menus, and they got what they ordered... We have no issues taking the blame when we make a mistake, so should you.

Hemos disfrutado del "Menu autour de la truffe" y ha sido espectacular. Un menú muy equilibrado, original y sabroso, con productos de calidad y sabor elegante sin excesos. Toda una experiencia y un regalo para los sentidos. Carta de vinos de proximidad de calidad y a precios adecuados. Servicio agradable y muy atento. Merci beaucoup à toute l'équipe du restaurant pour cette expérience.

We were expecting a very high class restaurant but the wine was served in a plastic bag, which was very disappointing, the sashimi had bones in it, but the steak Wes delicious!

Our first time dining at the restaurant. Missed dining there while the weather was warmer, which would definitely have added to the ambiance with the gorgeous view. (The lighting in the dining room is quite harsh; a dimmer switch would improve this. The menu offers enough choice without being overwhelming. Good execution of the dishes we ordered although the fish was cooked a bit too much for our liking.

Loved the place for locally inspired dishes. Innovative cuisine all fresh and home made. Very smart wine list at affordable prices. Right on the higher outskirts of the city and away from the tourist trap area. This place needs to be given its chance to consolidate and establish itself as the new kid in town. Had a really good experience. Will return.
