Dining in a unique setting

A little exciting it is, to dine in a basement that looks like a cave. You don’t know what you get to eat, the menu is a big surprise. Great experience, we loved the place and the concept. We went for a 5 course meal, most of the dishes were great, but not all of them.

We asked kindly and specifically that one of us wanted the steak well done. To my surprise we received a lecture and they said the best they could do is medium but in the end they disregarded this and brought it rare. We didn’t want to receive another lecture so my guest ate it.

The concept of the restaurant is quite fantastic! It really is a meat cave! The restaurant itself is underground, looks very much like an wine cellar so if you are claustrophobic, this place might not be for you.

My boyfriend and I were there for our anniversary dinner. The ambiance was casual but also initimate enough as there weren’t too many tables. We chose to have 4courses with dessert and neither one of the dish was a disappointment. Our third course, which was the steak, was cooked to a perfect medium rare and seasoned only with salt and pepper. Despite the simplicity, it was up there as one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. Dessert was my personal favorite as was a pleasant surprise as it also contains meat (bacon)! The drinks however were a little expensive. It was around €50 for a bottle of wine, a cup of tea and a gin and tonic. Otherwise, this meat cave lives up to its name.

I'm not entirely the review type of guy... But for this restaurant I will make an exception. Holy. S. This is a good restaurant. We where in Europe too pick up restaurant inspiration to bring back to the States... Well this one certainly inspired us all! Amazing quality of all their products, a crazy looking chef with crazy BGE skills, a huge waiter that brought all the right beers (beer 'arrangement')... Hell, this isn't just a restaurant, this is a night out for people who are crazy about quality food and want to experience it in full. This was eventually the only restaurant we found in Holland that was a true inspiration to us. Thank you so much.

We WILL be back!
