    Se dice que santo Domingo de la Calzada, al construir la ciudad que tiene su nombre, dejó hechos “una calzada, un puente, un templo y un hospital”… El último lo erigió para los peregrinos que iban a Compostela haciendo el Camino, y es en él donde está el Parador Santo Domingo de la Calzada y su magnífico restaurante.

    Se trata de un edificio regio y elegante, con un comedor luminoso y tradicional. Probarás una cocina riojana auténtica en la que los pimientos de piquillo ocupan un lugar relevante, rellenos de morcilla en salsa vizcaína.

    La carta se basa en platos tradicionales como el bacalao a la riojana o las chuletas de cordero lechal, pero con presentaciones modernas y cuidadas. El Parador Santo Domingo de la Calzada es un gran lugar en plena ruta Jacobea.

    Reservé para 3 personas indicando que llevaba un carro de bebés gemelar.Las camareras no tenian ni idea y tuvimos que molestar a comensales para pasar a una mesa.Decepcionante

    Quite a busy restaurant in a parador sited in a beautiful mediaeval building.
    We had two half starters: Rioja style potatoes - very nice- and Rioja style style vegetables- sounds nice but was fried left over broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, asparagus with a bit of jam on Serrano on top: horrible
    My second course was venison- very good and my husband had Rioja style cod- nicely cooked fish covered in a red sauce of none specific taste. This dish was clearly popular as we saw lots of people eating it , but it is not t be recommended! For desert , I eat biscuit glacé which was fine, can't remember what my husband had but it was OK.
    Good wine list and helpful waiting staff, and considering how busy they we, the progress of the mea was satisfactory.
    Conclusion: not bad but avaid the Rioja style fish and veg!
