Fabulous
Disappointing- thought we were out for Sunday lunch in a fab hotel. ☹️ Sandwiches , burger.... or fish & chips. Not what we hoped for. Chilly in the conservatory - not even a dining room ????
My husband and I came for a nice dinner for my 65th birthday. The dining room and hotel are beautiful. We both ordered Thai fishcakes to start which were flavourless and chewy. We both ordered French fries with the main (my husband's venison was cold) but an order of steak fries arrived which we returned, the meal getting colder as we waited. Another order of French fries arrived followed by another order of steak fries. The wine was delicious
WE had a lovely tea 4 2. Pleasant experience. We will be back.
As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and a big smile. The staff are very professional and service was great, the food well what can we say 10out10
Very average food. Disappointing, considering it was a special occasion. Maybe that’s what we have to expect outside of london in a restaurant not know to specialise in its food.
Came for afternoon tea in the conservatory, was really light and open and had a very relaxed feel about it! We were there about 2 hours and didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave. Loved the scones - only negative was we had to ask for butter to go with our cheese scones as none was provided.
From start to finish, the experience was wonderful! The service was 5*, the food and drink was delicious, and the fact the hotel is very dog friendly, with a beautiful ambience was just the icing on the cake! We couldn't have been more welcomed or looked after, and the Head Chef even came out to see us (we've met him before). We had a truly lovely time, and will be back again!
Interesting selection of vegetables offered ...turnip with salmon! Our meal was good, service was a bit amateurish ..red wine bottle on the table unopened so not breathing.
Excellent food, service and environment - a real gem
We had the three course Sunday lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Although the service was slow initially, once we started it was a well designed menu, excellent vegetables, and good presentation for each course.
The hotel and eating ares are lovely at the Ickworth Hotel. We dined in Fredrick's restaurant which was an adult only area. The food was very nice and service good. Wines were a little expensive but to be expected at a hotel of this standard.
Booked for an afternoon tea for 12.30 for 2 people, (winter wonderland) we were the only ones in the restaurant but still waited a long time for food to arrive( 30minutes plus) Sandwiches were dry & tasteless, scones were nice, small cakes were very rich & the cupcake was dry as well. Not worth the money paid. Waitress was friendly. Disappointing as it was for a birthday treat.
Lovely fresh sandwiches.good selection. Could be warmer in the restaurant.
Staff were very welcoming and we were shown to our table quickly. Food choice was very good as were the wines. Qulity of both was excellent. We were allowed to eat at our pace with no intrusive questions about the food etc. After dinner drinks arrived quickly.
We only had soup and a cheese board for lunch but the food took ages to come out. The food was very tasty although the portion sizes were very limited especially the cheese. You got a very small slice of each cheese which was barely enough to cover the cracker!!! Food is expensive for what you get. Service was okay.
Interesting location. Limited food choice. Beef and vegetables undercooked. Disappointing and unlikely to return.
We enjoyed the meal very much. The service was excellent and what a lovely venue to eat.
The meals we had were of a standard we would expect from this hotel, the service we received from staff was excellent and the food taste and presentation was very good. Unfortunately my wife suffered very bad sickness during the night and we suspect it was the desert she had( lemmon posset) at our evening meal , we had the same food throughout our stay apart from the desert. We informed the management and they noted the issue. Of course we cannot say for certain that the desert was the cause of the sickness.
The environment was delightful , as were the staff, however the service was slightly slow considering the simplicity of the menu. I think the kitchen is capable of a better quality of lunchtime experience but was probably catering to families with younger children as it is the summer school holidays . Overall it was a successful outing for our family of four , ranging in age from !8 up to 88 years . The garden was a delight and we finished off our lunch by having tea amongst the bees and flowers . My best suggestion would be to add a simple but sophisticated fish dish to the list of main courses.
We enjoyed the afternoon very much ,visiting the house was amazing...the cream tea was lovely especially the little touch of Happy birthday written in icing on a plate .
