About the restaurant Ristorante Di Fronte

We booked Ristorante Di Fronte for dinner last night. We had a nice table overlooking the lake and were the first to arrive.
- fish appetiser starter for two was excellent, there were three courses included within this.
- we both ordered beef for our main courses, one with cheese and one with balsamic vinegar. This was unfortunately disappointing as the beef was dry and tasteless for us both ( we ordered medium rare, they were both well done) The course with cheese was extremely dry and when my wife asked for a sauce, despite this being offered on the menu, they simply brought her balsamic vinegar... Not good. On top of this, we ordered chips and asked if they were French fries. At another restaurant the night before we had the most fantastic home made French fries and were looking forward to something similar here at this more upmarket and expensive venue. However they simply brought potato chips/crisps - again really disappointed here.
- we asked for a bottle of the cabaret sauvignion but this was not available so they brought us the merlot.
- service was appalling, I had to go up to reception twice after they ignored our request for an Ash tray and the final bill.
- the price was 90 euros, which came down to 70 euros with the trip advisor discount.
- overall a real let down and a shame from the main course.

The atmosphere and view to the lake is great, however, I find this restaurant overpriced compared to what is offered around. I would definitely don't think this place is no. 1 like TripAdvisor suggests so. I wanted to share a plate of Gnocchi with my 3 yo son, and they charged me extra 4 euros for serving half a dish. The food was good but nothing outstanding. They hardly have any vegan options, you need to improvise to get something. Coffee was low quality - which is a surprise when getting coffee in Italy where almost everywhere quality is great. The response of the owner to my review on Google Maps says it all, she refuses to accept some feedback, which is legitimate. I would recommend to avoid.
