Il quartiere Parioli, ubicato nella zona nord della capitale, ospita il Ristorante Lin (via Basento), un locale che propone cucina cinese a pochi passi da Villa Borghese, Viale Regina Margherita e poco distante da Corso Trieste. L’entrata con le porte in legno e vetro introduce in un ambiente spazioso e ben illuminato, arredato con sedie in pelle scura e pareti di colore giallo adornate con quadri raffiguranti opere di artisti orientali.

L’equilibrio della cucina cinese è ben riprodotto attraverso il sapiente utilizzo degli ingredienti, creando e rivisitando i piatti della tradizione in una chiave molto personale. Prodotti tipici e di stagione consentono alla brigata di cucina di preparare proposte nuovi, dal sapore intenso, a base di carne di maiale o manzo, di pesce, naturalmente di verdura e con l’immancabile riso. In questo locale elegante e discreto ideale per una serata tra amici ma anche per un pranzo di lavoro, potrete gustare il “Crudo di salmone”, la “Tartare di tonno”, la “Zuppa di pesce ai frutti di mare”, il “Wanton in brodo” ed il “Gelato al sesamo con mango fresco” oltre ad altri grandi classici della cucina cinese.

    Most excellent dinner! Menu is not in English, but a phone translator app worked around that. Our server spoke perfect English and was quite congenial. We both ordered Veal Dumplings, Crispy Duck, Veggie Fried Rice and shared the Sautéed Okra, All were quite good and perfect portions.

    (ENG) I book a dinner for four under a friend's strict recommendation. We show up at the place with some sense of anticipation. Our glee begins with the owner’s meet and greet: he manages to be both more Roman than us in his mannerism and speech and at the same time proud of his nationality, eager to introduce us to what we find out being his peculiar brand of cuisine. He himself leads us to our table, where he proceeds to describe his trade, managing to be both intimate and professional (this being part of what he himself defines as Lin’s first timers "Baptism"). We decide not to go our own way, we go for the chef's choice. Lin suggests to go strong on the appetizers, thus penalizing first and second courses. We trust him, being somehow taken aback by the unusual conduct: the latter definitely are the most expensive on the menu. What we got: five different kinds of dumplings, spectacular spring rolls (tempura-like batter enveloping a squash flower stuffed with cod), two first and two second courses. We eat aplenty, but this comes as the very least. Each flavor is distinct, each entrée is finely presented, nothing feels even remotely heavy, greasy or cheapish. Special mention goes to the bacon stew and to the ginger flavored pig dumplings strongly recommended by the expert. I rarely have been so happy about having followed somebody else's tips. Expectations have been more than surpassed. Lin has everything that a restaurant run with superb professionality should have and much more. The food is magnificent, the courses plentiful and who is in charge is more interested in having you live a coherent experience rather than having your money wasted in stuffing your mouth with randomly assorted delicacies. I concludes by saying that I almost felt sorry when I was presented with the bill, for we paid a price that was ludicrous if compared to the grand experience Lin presented us with. (ITA) Prenoto una cena per quattro sotto consiglio reiterato di un amico. Ci presentiamo al locale con una certa aspettativa. Lo stupore comincia con la genuinità del benvenuto del propietario, più romano di noi nei modi e nella calata, ma allo stesso tempo pieno e orgoglioso della sua proposta culinaria e della sua nazione. Ci descrive entrambi con fare al contempo intimo e professionale, parte di quello che lui stesso definisce il suo "battesimo". Decidiamo di non fare di testa nostra, ci facciamo consigliare. Lin suggerisce di abbondare con gli antipasti a discapito di primi e secondi e noi ci fidiamo. Rimaniamo colpiti dalla condotta insolita, dal momento che i primi e i secondi sono decisamente le portate più costose. Risultato: cinque tipi diversi di ravioli, un involtino stellare (pastella stile tempura che avvolge un fiore di zucca ripieno di pesce azzurro), due primi e due secondi. Mangiamo a sazietà, ma questo è il minimo. Ogni sapore è distinto, ogni piatto ottimamente presentato, niente risulta pesante, olioso, dozzinale. Menzione speciale va allo stufato di pancetta e ai ravioli di maiale aromatizzato allo zenzero consigliati dall'esperto. Raramente sono rimasto così soddisfatto di non aver fatto di testa mia. Aspettative ben più che superate. Lin ha tutto ciò che un ristorante gestito con superba professionalità dovrebbe avere e molto di più. Il cibo è magnifico, le portate abbondanti e chi lo gestisce è più interessato a far vivere un'esperienza coerente piuttosto che a indurre il cliente a spendere inutilmente per ingolfarsi di portate a casaccio. Concludo dicendo che nell'affrontare il conto mi sono quasi dispiaciuto a pagare così poco per aver mangiato così squisitamente.

    The staff were really welcoming, attentive and polite. We had steam sea bass, asparagus, fried prawns, vegetable fried rice and spring roll. Every dish, except for the spring roll, taste great! Spring roll is a tad soggy. On the whole, we had a wonderful dinner at Lin‘s & would certainly dine here again if we visit Rome again.

    If you want a change from pizza and pasta in Rome, it's a great place to eat. A bit far from the heart of Rome but we'll worth it!

    Three of us ordered a fish, beef and vegetable. The fish is the worst while the other are just ok. They are below the average of real Chinese food in China. The rice is like half-way cooked and tasted like it was a left over from yesterday. No wonder we are the only customer in the restaurant for the evening (Thursday). Surprised it is rated No. 1 Chinese restaurant in Rome. Definitely over-rated!

    we were looking for a change after so many nights of Italian food and this place hit the spot. the quality of the food was of a high level, the staff was very gracious and accommodating and the restaurant had an easy going environment to enjoy a great family meal while on vacation in Roma. we would certainly return!
