We had a large group and they allowed us to order drinks at the bar and bring them to the dinner table so very easy to manage the bill. On completion of the meal they also allowed us to each pay separate. This is so easy and fantastic with a big group. Food was great, service very good. We will be back with our group again. Cheers

We weren't aware that the Rose & Crown offered breakfast so it was a last-minute booking, but we were really impressed. It wasn't too busy, the staff were a real delight and the food was well presented and super tasty. They also had a cosy fireplace to keep all the patrons toasty and warm. Perfect for this time of year!

I love the character and welcome feel of the Rose & Crown. The staff are attentive, the fire on a cool winter’s day was a bonus and added to the ambience. It was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday which is a good sign. The menu offered plenty of choice and the food was nicely presented.

We ordered the beef and guiness pie, it was very dry. Apart from it being dry it was still tasty but everyone who had recommended I eat it said it had lots of gravy.

We have been to The Rose and Crown to dine on numerous occasions Always meets expectation and we wouldn't return if not happy. On this occasion a couple of staff were a bit off the mark but the food was good as usual

The food was delicious and good sized serves. The service was a bit slow and stagnant but they servers were very friendly. The table was a good size with decent space between everyone but I was seated in the corner and it smelt a bit damp. Overall everyone really enjoyed it.

Great all round with awesome serving size, staff always on hand to check our likings or provide service, serving time was fast and all food arrived at same time which shows highest level of concern..

Very disappointed, they were obviously too busy to keep up with the demand, no table service, had to line up for ages to order drinks and food, then waited an hour for food. Was then told in a very rude way that we had to leave the table, when we asked why we were told the table was booked for dinner in which was an hour later. Food was very average. It’s a shame as we used to love coming here but we won’t be returning.

Was looking forward to a nice meal for our wedding anniversary and requested a nice table for 2 when booking. Table was okay but not particularly good and had some noise from the bar area. One waitress was quite abrupt and argued that I had given her the wrong table number when ordering my cocktail at the bar ( which I hadn't). The pork belly was a good portion size, however was quite soggy on top a opposed to a nice crispy skin top. I ordered the pasta special, the lamb ragu with tagliatelle and didn't have a starter as we thought we would share a dessert. After the meal and taking a break before ordering dessert unfortunately I started to feel unwell and we left the restaurant to go back to our room. I was then unwell for the remainder of the night with symptoms of food poisoning so that did mar the evening somewhat. I relayed this information to reception the next morning to be told the dish has coriander in it, no problem to me as I like coriander. Then I was told there was stomach bugs/flu going around to which I advisedly hubby was fine, it was just me and we had ate different dishes, so I was more included to think it was food rather than virus related. The was no apology or concern, merely a mention they would tell the chef.

Food is great here but the bearded european man who seems to be a manager is possibly the rudest person I have ever met. Absolutely no people skills or basic manners.

So lovely. Near the open fire. The service was faultless and the food was lovely with a real homemade feeling about it. Most enjoyable.

This restaurant is lovely; food is consistently of a very high standard and never disappoints - ambience is charming right down to the flickering fire keeping everyone warm in winter. Staff are attentive and very courteous - what else can I say it's just fabulous.

Others rave about the gorgeous old architecture, the lovely garden and the romantic setting for dinner for couples, or the cosy setting by the fireplace in winter.
