Although the service was polite, the food was clearly microwaved from a pre-portioned plate (probably stored in the fridge then reheated on order, a typical trick to cut corners), and my glass of wine was oxidized and smelled of the canal (clearly from a leftover bottle that someone else hadn’t finished). I want to assume my experience was an outlier, but if they think that they can unload some of their subpar ingredients on a paying customer (probably assuming I wouldn’t notice because I am younger), then what does that say about the character of the chef and their standards of service (clearly not consistent across all customers, or else no one would go there). My guess is they thought I would lap up any slop they’d toss my way - overall a disappointing experience and an expensive scam of a meal they served to me. To the restaurant: do not underestimate the expectations of your customer, even if you think they’re an ignorant rube.

Highly recommend this is authentic French dining at a small but cosy restaurant. We had superb smoked salmon and boutique champagne. The fish main dish was perfectly cooked in a creamy sauce but not too rich. The rump was perfectly poked and tender with enough fois gras to ensure moist French flavour. Well worth the drive to get there.

I would not recommend this despite excellent food and service. We ordered two glasses of house wine and two prix fixe menus. But when the bill was presented the server added a random extra amount of 10 euros and change. That was not an accident. When I pointed the overcharge out, the server apologized profusely. But the magic was broken.

We had read good reviews of this little restaurant so we booked a table for our first meal in France.; we were not disappointed. They offer a choice of two set menus as well as a la carte. We chose the second menu which offered us an excellent range of dishes to choose from incorporating many local ingredients. The food was excellent, the local wine list was impressive and the service was friendly, prompt but also relaxed.

Le cadre est délicieusement suranné, ambiance très agréable. La cuisine est bonne, traditionnelle, bons produits. Le service est agréable bien que perfectible (devancer les besoins en eau par exemple)
