We really enjoyed our rijsttafel experience. The food was delicious and very plentiful. It was presented very nicely and the wait staff was very attentive. We would definitely return and would recommend it to anyone in Amsterdam.

Good food, good service, noisy restaurant and over-crowded (too many tables squeezed in).

To start, we went out of our way to go to this restaurant and had high expectations. It did not live up to them and I would not suggest anyone gp there. Since it is the only Indonesian restaurant we tried I cannot compare. I have been to Indonesia and been to other Amsterdam restaurants. Compare to them all this food was not fresh. It seemed they have a thing going to give you a large variety of food that was prepared hours or days in advance and charge a lot of money.

We made a reservation which was good because we were immediately seated in the more quiet back room. The atmosphere was fine but it was the most crowded arrangement I have ever seen. We could hardly move. The atmosphere was okay but nothing special.

We were on the understanding that we could share one ristafel but in fact were told that it would not be allowed - and that it would not be enough food. So, we paid the 32 euros each. More than we paid in any other restaurant including some excellent French and Dutch places.

This was our second ricetaffel at the restaurant. There were so many excellent dishes!! Our next visit to Amsterdam (we live in California, and travel quite a bit) will include a meal at Sama Sebo (and so convenuent to the museums anf Leidespleine)

The food was good although the presentation of the dishes was quite poor, the service was quick but did not pay much attention on us. The place itself was slight below our expectations in terms of decoration and atmosphere. I have been in many Asian restaurants (Chinese, Japanese, Hindu, Thai...) of similar price and these elements were considerably better.

Best dishes were the sliced marinated beef and the beef in peanut sauce. The vegetable dishes were disappointing especially the green beans. Also we were seated at a table where by it was impossible to place dishes so they were accessible to all diners - that meant one diner was constantly having to reach for dishes to pass them to the other two diners. However the experience of eating at a "rice table" and the interesting foods and sauces and condiments made for an wonder last evening in Amsterdam. WE WILL COME BACK! Jan Smith, Kurt and Gwen Bundy

I came across Sama Sebo from the great reviews online. After reading, from Rick Steves, that I had to try Indonesian food, I booked a reservation. I love rice, so I was excited for the new taste. It was delicious! I ordered the lunch size, seeing that I was traveling solo, and probably wouldn't have been able to finish the full portions. The size was perfect for me. I loved the different tastes in the bowl, the peanut sauce, the plantain, the crispy chicken, and the many flavors all in one bowl. Thank you for making it a great experience.
