The food was excellent, however we waited quite a long time for the entree, as well as the main dish. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the majority of our time there, except the owner's friends, who were a bit loud.

Based on the reviews we were really looking forward to dinner but we ended up being disappointed mostly because of the lack of depth and nuance in the taste of the food. The sancho sauce for the duck (itself perfectly cooked) lacked nuance and was bitter and did not go well with the soba. The other main course- codfish was fresh but the accompanying curry sauce, vegetables and rice were all mixed up, cooked together in a way you would not expect to find in Japan. Our dessert- cheesecake- seemed to have been frozen and thawed. Also, somewhat disappointing without richness of cream to balance the sesame. However, the very attentive service and comfortable restaurant makes this an appealing place. In summary, the cooking is Japanese inspired but for those who are looking for honest to goodness Japanese food there will be a bit of a disappointment.

The Sancho restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. I am very familiar with Japanese food and yet I discovered new and interesting tastes. They have a not big but selection of exceptional sake, and very interesting twist on some traditional Japanese meals. Compliments to chef and staff. Will return to Sancho.

For Tempra, it would be better provide salt. Eating tempra with sauce might be spoiling food's freshness.
