Quite disappointing!
The gentleman who served us was really nice and professional but the food was the worst we have ever had.
1. The fried tuna amuse-bouches were still frozen inside
2. The pasta with truffles was not fresh pasta. It was not even warmed correctly. It did not absorb the cheese or truffles.
3. The fish was uncooked
4. The carbonara was very disappointing
5. The beef had no taste and was presented in a miserable way on the place.
And the list goes on.

The food was phenomenal and the setting could not be more romantic. The special tagliatelle dish was among the best pasta dishes we have had.

Great food - best pasta of your life. No prices on menu items, pasta with mushrooms and black truffles is as incredible as it sounds. 48 euro a plate of pasta when you're not expecting it was a moment of sticker shock, but all other items were fairly priced and we were in Portofino...I would go back, I'd order that pasta again. I think they need to be up front with pricing on menu for the future.

Whilst the setting may be dramatic...it was nothing compared to the price of soft drinks!.....
The food was average, at best, and portions were a little on the mean side....

Other reviews for Portofino restaurants had me questioning price vs quality but we left Stainer very pleased. The tuna carpaccio was melt-in-your-mouth and my wife stole half of my mushroom / truffle pasta (mixed in a bowl made of parmigiana!). Wine was pricey even though local selections but perfectly accompanied our meal. Recommmend sitting waterside at sunset as all the boats get put away for the night. The transition from day to night added to the ambiance. Enjoy!
