About the restaurant Sumatra House
In this Indonesian specialty restaurant the dishes are richly flavored with spices and herbs, the traditional Boemboes. From Indonesian fish soup and pie filled with chicken to chopped goat meat cooked in curry sauce and steamed mackerel in banana leaves: this is pure Indonesia. A must in Leiden!

Very nice meal based on suggestions received from the owner. Booked via the Fork, we were seated at a table under the window and close to the heaters, which was very welcome to us. Chicken Satai and all kinds of curries were great. Good local beer.

Sumatra food is famous for the its spice but I felt that Sumatra House had adjusted food taste to Dutch visitors. I hope by reviewing the taste time to time, this restaurant try to change the taste to 'asli indonesia'.

Service was very slow, including provision of drinks which were of limited range and quantity. Would have liked some nibbles/ tasters whilst waiting to order etc. Food was very tasty and plentiful, however.
