7/10We are regular - and until now very happy -clients The food is always very good and tasty and the atmosphere is warm. However, this time we were disappointed by the hygiene standards. The floor was sticky and there was a mouse running between the tables when it was no longer very full. We hope that this is a problem that will be solved quickly.

10/10We had the Surakarta Rijstaffel for 2. We did not finish the meal as it was just too much food! The waitress packed our leftover without any extra charge. We also appreciated the hot water refill on our ginger tea! The foods are great, and quite authentic Javanese. It is a bit on the sweeter side, but that is just how Javanese Indonesian food is! During our stay they had to turn away a couple of groups simply because they were really full at 6pm! So definitely get a reservation before coming.

4.5/10Food was okay. Some of the meats felt a bit hard and tasted like they had been stewing for a long time. Made the mistake of paying 6 euro for the water at the table, and when asked for regular water, we were given another bottle of the expensive water.

10/10We ordered two different kinds of Rice menus offering a combination of different Indonesian dishes. All were excellent and showing a wide range of flavours. Very recommendable. Also, the staff was very friendly.

2.5/10Well me and my patner went to the restaurant and first it was an old couple sitting across from us then they were eating the the old man start having problems like caugh and then he vomiting on his own plate then teh server came and give him a buket insted of take him to the bathroom that was very discusting then our food came and my patner doesnt want to eat plus my food was cold I orde fish and it was cold from the frige,so we didnt have a good expierence there...

9.5/10We loved our experience in Surakarta. After being warmly received we were shown to our table. Our waitress was extremely friendly and kind and even answered some questions about the dishes. The beef renadang and the goat curry were extremely tasty. Keep it up.

10/10My go-to restaurant for Indonesian food in Leiden - the food is delicious, and the service is great! Especially good when I have vegetarian guests visiting, as the vegetarian rijsttafel is really varied and tasty. Thank you!

Restaurant Surakarta has its origin in the Middle- Java cuisine. This is a very specialised kitchen and differs from the other Indonesian food because they use less hotness and more sweetness in their cooking. Do try the lemper ayam, soto and sajoer lodeh and spicy it up with one of their three homemade sambals. Take away and catering is part of their kind service.
