Excellent quality. Probably the best meal I had in Lisbon.
????, but expensive...
Absolutely fantastic meal and service, the restaurant is lovely and cosy. 3 of us came here for our Christmas dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the waiter was excellent. My boyfriend said it was the best cheesecake he’s ever tasted!
The food was excellent, really. The waiter made also a great job. The wine was mediocre. But my problem: I booked a table as a single person and got a "side table" neighboring the bar counter and the kitchen. Uncomfortable. Asked for another table, which was free the hole time in front of me, with cozy chairs and really "in" the restaurant. "No". I was disappointed.
Nice food in a small place
Very nice small place that is easily missed when passing by. Good portion size and tasty food. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the staff was friendly. Can reccomend.
Very tasty food with a linda service.
Great restaurant, with only about 18 covers. The night we went The was a party of 8 (later joined by 2 more) who were quite noisy. Not offensive at all, just lots of discussion taking place. Difficult for a small restaurant to deal with.
Lovely small restaurant with terrific service
Little and charming restaurant, nice and calm environment, great attention, good wine and delicious food. Good presentation, magnificent flavour, perfect quantity, we definitely will be back
Great meal, amazing service, friendly waiter. Enjoyed it alot.
This is a tiny restaurant which features local specialties with wonderful flavors. I loved my tagliatelle w/ shrimps and octopus fritters. Our dinner companions (9 in all) tried a variety of dishes & all were quite pleased. Duck confit , codfish confit, and lamb were especially noteworthy. And we found the meals inexpensive for the quality provided.
Don’t miss this!
I think the term “Hidden Gem” applies to this place. While not exactly hidden, it’s a small restaurant located near the Avenida metro station, a little over a kilometer from the touristy downtown area. The food was delicious (Me: braised pork cheeks; Her: Roasted leg of lamb), the ambience was soothing, and the service was extremely good. If you’re looking for something a little more personal (and quiet), I highly recommend this place.
Please enjoy the amazing hospitality and highest quality cooking with the Chef. We were humbled that he opened the restaurant on his day off just to honor our reservation. An exquisite meal that featured. Douro wine paired with wine braised mushrooms, squid fritters, braised pork cheeks and prawns with tagliatelle wars our reward of choosing this restaurant. Please visit the gem if you are in central Lisbon - or for that matter anywhere in Lisbon! It’s a quite place great for a quiet conversation and wine and food.
NOT the restaurants fault, but be aware of the streets numbering system ! Look out for the restaurant name. A very enjoyable visit.
Extreme good food, bad air fully damped.
I read great reviews online and decided to book this resturant from my girlfriends birthday. We turned up at 7.30/8 and were the only people in the resturant! Waiter was friendly and food was to a good standard, however was expecting more considering the outstanding reviews online.
My husband and I had dinner on our first night in Lisbon. We visited this restaurant after reading other reviews and we weren’t disappointed, the pork cheeks and the octopus were delicious. Service was very good. Would definitely eat there again if in Lisbon.
Outstanding food, presentation, and service. My wife and I recently spent 9 days in Lisbon and environs and had some really good meals. However, Taberna d'Algeria was the best. We ate here twice, coming back a second day and varying what we ate. The menu has traditional Portuguese fare, but with interesting variations from the chef. Not a single course, starter, main, or dessert, was at all disappointing. They were all delicious. The octopus dish, for example, will change your idea of what can be done with octopus. (And the pudding dessert was subtly flavoured but its flavours lingered in your mouth for hours later.) It's also only a short walk from the Avenida Metro off the Avenue Liberdade.
