We had a delicious meal at Tachometer Real. I loved my tenderloin with mushrooms and ham while my wife raved about the seafood. We will be back.

It was a rainy night and we were reluctant to go too far from our rental, but the reviews of Tacho Real and the distance from our abode called to us. It was hard to find, and when we arrived for an 8:00 reservation the large and nicely appointed restaurant was empty. The wait staff seated us in a comfy spot and we were well treated by the helpful staff. We both ordered fish dishes, my Sea Bass was quite tasty and a generous serving, but Carmen’s Cod was rather overcooked, so she actually sent it back. They were gracious and deliverd a lesser cooked plate, which she found tasty. I think the resto may have seen better days, but we enjoyed ourselves, largely because we met a couple from Costa Rica who were charming and fun to chat with. The wine we chose was good, and that helped.

We ordered the cod and the fish had gone bad!!! It was so spoiled that the smell alone gave it away. And instead of recognizing and apologizing for serving spoiled fish, the waiter tried to pass it off as that being typical of salted cod (problem is that we all grew up with salted cod so we know that the taste is salty and not spoiled). AVOID if you can —the food is definitely subpar and the installation also didn’t bode well (mold in bathroom combined with uncleanliness) just screamed that this place needs attention.

This is hands-down the best restaurant we’ve ever eaten at. The service is great and the food even better. We had the Tacho Teal filet, a perfectly-cooked filet topped with a mushroom cream sauce. Order it medium rare and you’ll be able to cut it with a butter knife. We also had the salmon and that was also delicious. This is truly a great dining experience.

On a November evening in a very quiet town, this place was welcoming, charming, and very genuine. We had a wonderful meal in a authentic atmosphere.

We ate early, so the restaurant was not crowded. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Would definitely dine there again.

The sole meuniere was excellent, but stay away from the steak au poivre.

Overpriced and too formal for Portugal. Plus, how can you charge for butter packets??

The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. The mushrooms in cream was delicious. The seafood and rice was was very good, though a bit salty for our taste.

Beautiful atmosphere in a cellar like ambience. Kind attendance and good quality steak, bacalhau and deserts, very tasty vegetable soup as well.

The location is prime, very ambient inside. Live music was playing at the veranda and we could hear it from the distance, which was great for our situation. Table service was good. The food was somewhat disappointing. Our vegetable soups arrived barely warm. The tomato “salad” was literally just cut tomatoes. The veal fillet was raw inside, therefore very rubbery and hard to chew. We used 50% discount through the TripAdvisor/thefork, so the price was ok. Otherwise I would be upset to pay much more for this kind of food.

We had just the most delicious meal of all time. The atmosphere was incredible! The food was reasonably priced and the fillet with shrimp sauce was AMAZING! I would definitely take my family back here :)
